I just got a Viewsonic N3751W LCD TV yesterday and I found 2 stuck pixels.
1 of them was gone after I gently touched it. The other wouldn't go away even I used UDPixel, JScreenFix, screen massage.

What are my options? I heard that Viewsonic has a 0-pixel-defect warranty for the first 14/30 days. Is this right?

1. return/exchange at store you purchased from

UDPixel: http://udpix.free.fr/
JScreenFix: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic
They're basically software solution that flashes your screen with bright pixel in an attempt to fix the stuck pixel (not dead pixel)

Screen massage is just another way to fix it. You can easily fix those solution on google.

Is the pixel lit, or black... any colour? If you're stuck with this one, try laying the panel horizontal... and gently clean the screen, if this massaging doesn't work... then yup a dead pixel. How annoying is it? Placement, colour & brightness.. If you think you can live with it, ask for a big price break (threaten to return).

A couple of years ago, a dead pixel was not a returnable excuse, but these days most sets are pixel perfect.

It's a office depot buy. The pixel is visible (black or green) at red background so I assume it's a stuck pixel rather than dead. It's at lower left, but still a distance from the corner. Even worse, another similiar stuck pixel appear at another location, which was again fixed by a magic touch.

It could be just a lazy pixel, but I suspect that it's permanently fused (In the manufacturing process, if they spot a dead pixel, instead of trashing the panel, they fuse it, to black or grey if possible) and sold as a secondary line of panels. You might get lucky with some video exercise, but I doubt it. Office Depot should listen to your concerns... and advise you (they want happy customers) and I trust the store to do the right thing... if this is a livable problem, hit them with a heavy discount... after all this issue could get worse.. but above all, keep the store in the loop.

If I am to ask for a discount, how much do you think I should ask for?

If I am to ask for a discount, how much do you think I should ask for?Let's say for argument, I like the TV... but the price is not bad, but I've got other contenders to check, then the sales person says to me.. "I've got a unit with a lazy pixel er... well might be dead, but it's not turned on and it's in an unobtrusive area", we checked it out and need to get rid of it, I'll let it go at cost... wadda ya say :) If you use percentages... then you've still got more than 99.9% of the image... = $1 discount.

But reality is something else.. if you got a 20% = $200 off deal, would that allow you to believe that dead pixel is nothing more than dirt on your glass?

Put it another way... would you pay $200 more to not have that dead pixel? Some would... others would say that should be the starting point of negotiations. Take comfort in the fact that technology is working overtime and in a few years this will be water under the bridge, but as a RFDer... you know the deal is KING and this issue should be treated as a true advantage.... be the King maker.

BTW: report back... we need the encouragement.

Better than a kick in the pants... so how much did it all work out to? Did it bring it down to $600 (nice deal if it did).

If I got the rebate, it will be somewhere around $650 + tax
