Hi everyone

I have a HP Media Center PC m7248n and i've been trying to use my memory card reader that's bulit into the case but it no longer reads any cards that i put in. In My Computer it doesn't say any other drives besides the normal ones for hard drives and dvd drives.

Can anyone tell me what to do to get it working again?

Turn on the sound on your PC.

1. Do you hear Windows making a Ding-DING noise when you plug in the card?
2. Is it followed by a DING-Ding about 10sec later?

If not 1 and not 2, open up the PC and make sure no connectors came loose.

If 1 and not 2, open up Control Panel - Computer Mangement - Disk Management and see if its there but has been assigned a drive letter that is already in use.

If 1 and 2, then it looks like Windows could load the drivers for the memory card.

Or check if each card reader slot is showing up as separate drive in "My Computer"

My 8-in-1 external reader shows up like 8 drives in My Computer
If not, something's wrong. Can check "Device Manager" too

Open the case up, unplug the connector from the card reader. Reconnect it.

Open the case up, unplug the connector from the card reader. Reconnect it.

Do this while Windows is running as well. Mind you, a simple reboot should force Windows to redetect it. I've done a "safely remove" on my internal reader by accident and a reboot caused Windows to find it again.
