Does anyone have an opinion on this laptop? I haven't found any reviews on the Internet about it. I'd like to do some photo editing and minor video editing with it. No games, plus the usual surfing and e-mail usage. I prefer 2 GB RAM and a dedicated video card, but this one doesn't have it and maybe I won't need it for my purposes. I'll be taking it with me on trips.

The satellites are generally pretty reliable machine. A little bit bulkier than they need to be, and the casing feels plasticy, but they're decent quality

the VA7 is almost the same except it has 2Gb ram. I think it is $100 extra. That might interest you more

At FS, it's $999 for the VA5 (on sale) and $1399 for the VA7 (regular price, no sale). Staples has the VA7 on sale for $1229. The VA7 has a larger hard drive, but I don't need the extra space.

I've read the Toshiba keyboard feels spongy, but I haven't had a chance to look at it in person yet. I've been using an IBM T40 the past several years, so I know most laptops will be a downgrade in build quality.

I VA7 was on sale at Futureshop about 2 weeks ago for $1099.

I currenty have an a100 series Toshiba that i got 7 months ago. I plan to sell it and get the a100-va7 as soon as university is done in a month.

I want vista, so i've decided just to get a new laptop.

I have had no problems with my a100. They are very popular with students

How often does the A100-VA7 go on sale at Future Shop? I'd pay $1099 for the extra memory, especially since I think Vista is a bit of a memory hog.

Thanks for the info!

Price match at Staples and use coupon codes to bring the price down further

That price must've just dropped today! I'm going for the PM at Staples. Thanks!

Okay, done. $1127.30 after PM, tax and two coupon codes.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I got everything on my wish list except for a dedicated graphics card, but I'm not complaining. 2 GB RAM will be very nice.
