I have a TD Waterhouse full brokerage account.

Due to some personal reason, I need to close the account.

Is there anyway to close the account without letting the broker know?

I tried to check something by calling TD Waterhouse, they refer me back to the broker.

Please let me know, thanks.

If there was trust in your relationship, there is absolutely nothing wrong with letting them know. You make it sound like you are sneaking behind their backs. If you really have a "personal" reason, then let your advisor know. Its disrespectful and dishonest for breaking a relationship without notifying your advisor.

why wouldn't you let the broker know, there's nothing that they can do to stop you from closing the account, they might try to stall the process, but at the end, they have to oblige with your request
