recommendation for canister vacuum

I have allergies and have been told that a canister vac is better than an upright -- thoughts??

I have a Miele. It's extremely quiet. I haven't replaced the bags yet, but I think they are going to be pricey. I almost bought a dyson upright but received the Miele as a gift.

I have a Sebo, it works great, has 2 filters including Hepa and is supposed to be great for allergie sufferers.
The filters come with the replacement bags. They cost a few bucks but they last a long time.

The vacuum is really quiet too.

I chose it over the Miele, but can't remember why
