Hi Guys!
This is probably a dumb question, but I had to try.
My brother wants to give me a brand new set of tires + rims for my Accent from his Golf.
His rims have 4 holes, so do mine. Will they fit?
He mentioned something that they might not, since it is coming from a Golf, to an Accent..but I think, if it has the same number of holes, it should fit right?
Thanks for the help!!

Not necessarily, you have to check the exact bolt pattern to make sure they match. Even if they do, tire size also needs to be checked to make sure they have enough clearance.

ya see, my one problem, these tires are 1000kms away
is there any trick I can do to make sure they fit before I bring them to me?

you can search on the net and find out the spacing for the bolts for both cars and then you will know for sure. Give me year, make and modules and I will try to find out or somebody here will!

What year is his Golf? The Hyundai Accent has a 4x100 pattern, and so do all Golf's pre-1999 (post-1999's use 5x100). Just need to know the year of yours and his car, but since you say it has 4 bolts in it, it looks like you're fine.

I think the Golf is a 95 ish..and mine is a 2000

you also need to consider the offset and circumference of the tires

Accent is 4/114.3
Golf is 4/100
So I don't think it will fit

You should be ok regarding tire sizes... I checked on it and both of those cars use the same size tire, unless of course he was using the wrong size tire on his rims to begin with.
I don't think you're right about the Accent size being 4x114.3, cereal83... At least not for the year 2000.

Hyundai Accent GL/GS/L 2000-up 4x100mm
VW Golf - 85-98 4x100mm ..... 99+ 5x100mm
In the end, the rims wont fit UNLESS its a golf 98 or older!

Thanks a million!
I think I am going to take my chances, and get them up here to me. Its time to change tires any way, or well, almost.
And hey, if they don't fit, you might see an add from me soon in BST!
Thanks again!

SO, according to this, they should fit, because the golf is a 95?

They will fit. Not sure where you got your 4x114.3 for the Accent but every site I'm checking is telling me 4x100. Since the Golf is a 95 and also 4x100 they will work fine... a quick check at any online tire store will also tell you that the two cars also use the same size tires.
You shouldn't have any problems.

Yes Lisa, you had your answer by post #5. ;)
This thread is starting to go in circles

it may fit as far as bolt pattern is concerned, but the offset is still unknown.
find the offset on the wheels and see whether they will fit your car or whether you need spacers.

bolt pattern is not even half the equation
offest, wheel width, tire width, clearance against suspension components and fenders, tire diameter, make sure all of these match exactly or atleast within reasonable limits
offset and wheel width can easily be found by lookin at the rims themselves
the rest of these issues wont really be apparent until you test fit, or just do a lil bit of math and measuring

I am pretty sure her brother is not giving her some deep dish dubs that are 18x8 ...
Just remember ... For every 10 in width, you gotta go down 5 in height otherwise your speedo will be off!
ie. if your stock tire is 195/65/15 like in my case, if I wanted 205 tire its needs to be 205/60/15

That's not always correct.
Instead of relying on old wives' tales as a guideline, why not calculate it for real?
