I'm looking to buy a new laptop, and for a variety of reasons I absolutely have to have it in my hands by mid-April.
Any opinions on which of the following dells is the better deal? This will be mainly for light accounting / email / surfing / DVD watching, but also occasional light gaming (hopefully 2nd gen games such as Fear, Battlefield 2, but possibly older titles if it can't handle those)
Option 1:
Inspiron 6400 Dual Core
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5200 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife
2GB RAM
256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory
80GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive
8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Total: $1139
OR
Same as above with an Intel® Core™ Duo T2250 (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB for $1009
I'm currently leaning towards the 2250 & possibly bump up the HD to 120GB for $60.
Am I crazy wanting to go with 2GB ram & the ATI 1400? I've heard vista is a pig for RAM & I'm hoping the 1400 will allow at least some older games to run okay.
I'm looking to spend no more than $1200 including tax...any opinions / ideas?
