I just received my recent HBC Credit Card statement and I got charged Finance/credit charges. I always pay my balance in full. I paid my last statement in full 1 day prior to the due date.

I'm on the phone with them and they're telling me that the can't see my statement yet?!! Really frustrating.... incompetent people.

They have no idea why I was charged interest, but they credited the charge back. I'm sure I'm not the only one who got dinged for these charges.

That's why I closed my account with them. I too was getting charges on my bill even though it was paid in full every month. I heard though that I sort of ruined my credit by closing the account, because I'd had the card for 14 years and I've shortened my credit history by removing HBC.

Funny, I've had my card for 14 years too, before I turned 18 because I was an HBC employee then.

That's what happens when you shorten your credit history... but I wonder if they report that the late payment charges were reversed. If they just give credit back, and not report it, won't your credit file show a bunch of late payments, and thus ruin your credit anyways?

Does it show on your statement that the payment was actually received by the due date? Or did you just make the payment online or something one day before the due date? Just wondered if maybe you made the payment at your bank one day before but sometimes these things take up to 3 days to actually be processed so the payment may have actually been late. If the statement shows your payment by the due date then they obviously screwed up.
