I'm currently renting a unit from the owner of the condo. I had given him 6 months dated cheques. I now have to move within the 2 months notice. Is there a way of voiding the cheques given in advance to him? I trust he will give cheques back, but just wondered what happens if he ddn't return them.
Can I do anything with my bank to nullify the pre made cheques if needed.

Its called stop payments - you need the cheque numbers and amounts

If he doesn't return them you can easily put a "stop payment" request with your bank on the outstanding cheques.
I am pretty sure there is a charge for that (use to $7.00 each I believe) but is certainly cheaper than chasing a cashed cheque.
Good luck,

Just remember you pay the $7 or $10 or whatever even if the cheques are returned to you.

You will also need the dates and the exact spelling of the payee!!!
