View Full Version : Places for Tax Advice?

I've got quite a few specific questions about my taxes and I'm wondering where I can go to ask them (other than this forum). No offense to those here but I want Definite Professional advice.

NOTE: I don't want to pay someone to do my taxes, I just want advice. I also don't mind paying for the advice as well (as long as it's not too much).

Any suggestions?

Call Canada Revenue Agency directly. You can find the number on their web site.

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of that option but CRA is not always the best place to call if you want to squeeze out as large of a tax refund as possible.

When I've called them in the past, they seem to just answer more straightforward questions.

Any other suggestions?

there are some CA's on this forum. You may want to post your question or problem out in the open!!

You can't expect all CA's to know a lot about tax. I would go find a good CA that have specialized in tax and then ask them to give you some advice. You can ask people you know to recommend you a good CA that really know their tax. Not sure if it's a viable route but my tax prof has a side practice and takes clients at a cheaper rate than say a regular CA would so I guess ask the local univ in your area if they have a tax professor and see if he/she offers consulting.

I would but I have quite a few questions which with background info, would make a lengthy post (which I think most people would not really read thru).

Hmm, sounds like a good place to start but I was hoping more for a place on the net or business in the yellowpages. Working 12 hour shifts, it's hard to find the time to go to a University to look around.

looks like you are looking for "professional" advice and not something that people can easily offer. why not just look up for tax accountants in yellowpages and give them a call to ask about their rates?

i think someone has mentioned in other thread that they usually charge $200 per hour

At that price I might as well just let H&R Block do my taxes. Ah well, I guess nothing cheaper exists.

I found this though:

Not sure if it would be any good.
