I was at T&T today and saw dragon fruit and the sign advertising the price read this and I was puzzled as I didn't think dragon fruit shared the same name as the online encyclopedia Wikipedia??? Yet the tag on the packages didn't say wikipedia on it. I found this to be interesting lol. Are they really called wikipedia fruit? I took a pic with my phone...

It's called sesame (seed) fruit in my language.

Why the hell does it say Wikipedia which is actually 2 words combined.

I recently had a chance to try one of these. At first it definately reminded me of a kiwi, the green kind. I found the taste of this fruit to be very...blah! Not much taste to it at all. It could have been unripe but damn! So so boring. Kinda like watching paint dry.

Didn't know about the name 'Wikipedia', but I believe the red variety of dragon fruit is also called 'Red Pitahaya' if I am not mistaken.

See the last page of this week's Valu-mart flyer for an example:

from the Chinese reading isn't it "fire dragon melon/fruit"?

I will be sure to eat a million of them when I go back to Taiwan this summer. They are really good, sweet & juicy!
