I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to find butter chicken. I absolutely love that dish but it's hard to find a really good rendition. I live in the Markham area but open to any suggestions in Toronto, Mississauga, Thornhill, and Scarborough. I actually think the butter chicken at Tikka Tikka at 14th and Markham is quite good but not amazing.

just google pics "butter chicken"
it's an east indian dish. it's chicken with this very buttery creamy red/orangey sauce due to the tomatos, chili powder and tumeric powder. it's actually not that buttery since the recipe does not call for alot of butter but rather more yogurt.
usually it's not spicy but depends on where you go cause sometimes it can be very spicy.

Check out Lahore Tikka House on Gerrard St. (little india). The BEST butter chicken anywhere IMO. I've tried many many places and this one is #1.

I loved the Butter chicken at Banjara at Yonge and Bloor, but that restaurant closed down awhile back (or did they move somewhere else? It was closed when I dropped by last summer). Bombay Bhel is decent, but it isn't as good as Banjara was.
Edit: Looks like they did move: http://www.banjaratoronto.com/ If it's still under the same ownership, I'd recommend it.
I'll have to try out Tikka House the next time I'm in Toronto.
Speaking of which, are there any decent Butter chicken places in Ottawa? I've tried a couple of places, but they haven't been that great.

I love the butter chicken roti at Ghandhi on Queen St. W in downtown Toronto. It is just east of Bathurst.
The restaurant isn't much to look at and I usually get it to go.
It may take a few minutes because they make it fresh for you and you can have it as spicy as you want.
Portions are huge, it usually is good for 2 meals.

Nothing better than Home Made Butter chicken!!!! I've tasted a lot of different bc's but I still say my wifes is the best!!!!!
But seriously if you are ever near the airport on wednesday around noon, then I suggest that you stop off at the little cafe (skyport cafe) located at 61 International Blvd (off of Carlingview behind the Molson plant). On wednesday, they serve butter chicken as one of their hot plates with rice and Naan + a soup or salad for $6.95. Although my wifes is still better, for the price, quantity and quality, not bad for $6.95. If you show up after 1:30 good luck finding any more left.

Just go to about anywhere in Brampton. Sweet Palace is not bad and there is also a Bombay Bhel on Queen in Brampton.
In the Downtown area, King's Palace is a popular place cabbies and clubgoers hit. It's on Sherbourne + Richmond, open till 5AM.
