Anyone have a cereal that they miss? I really miss Vanilla Cookie Crisp cereal, it was sooo good! Still remember the box and the cereal like it was yesterday. Can't understand why they discontinued it!

Unfortunately they don't have the vanilla kind anymore. They have chocolate chip and peanut butter only.

Very difficult to find but as a kid there was a mall where I lived (Thornhill Square) which had a Nortown Deli and they always had Cookie Crisp in there.

I absolutely miss the Flintstones' Fruity Pebbles. Maybe more for the excellent prizes inside, but the cereal was quite good. I'm 33 now and I miss that cereal dearly.

Make the drive down to Buffalo, NY and they have a variety of Pebbles flavours including Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles.

Are you serious? Wow...cool...

Any idea why they're no longer in Canada?

I've always been a Shreddies, Shredded Wheat and Corn Flakes type of guy rather than into the sugary dessert cereals.
That said, I do like Honey Combs on occasion.

Did you actually find them in Canada at one time, must have been a long time ago. Many cereals you can't find here are selling in the States, that is just the way it is.

It probably wasn't that long ago. I remember purchasing Fruity Pebbles here in Canada maybe 5 years ago. Unfortunately, the Canadian Fruity Pebbles are more like Trix cereal ("fruit" flavoured coloured balls) than the American Fruity Pebbles which are like small, intensely flavoured little flakes.

We bought four boxes of the American FP on a trip and midway through the second box I had consumed enough American FP to last me a lifetime. For some reason, American foods are processed very differently than their Canadian equivalents (corn-based sugars instead of fruit-based, etc.) and I found the cereal left my mouth with a very unpleasant "greasy ring" feeling for hours after eating.

We threw out the other 2.5 boxes -- well, we actually fed them to squirrels, but that's pretty much the same thing.

Yes, that was my breakfast staple between 1984-85. It was available everywhere in Canada (my cousins live in Edmonton and they had it there at the time as well). I grew up in the Toronto area.

FrankenBerry and BooBerry. I still pick them up occasionally when I go to Michigan, Meijer's still carries them there.

+ 1 fo Pac Man
+ 1 for Mr T
my all time fav was ET, Star Wars and Oreo cereal and oh yeah Frankeberry too.

I pick up boxes of cookiecrisp each time im down in the US. I've seen some US grocery stores that have a 2 cereal isles, or 1 isle with cereal on both sides. I don't know if our cereals are any better than the ones in the US. I've seen some pretty nutritious cereals in the US. That I never heard of in Candada. Next time i'll take some pics.

I think CoCo Pops was rebranded as Nestle Quick Cereal ..... Wasn't this the cereal that had the rooster running around going "coco for coco pops" ?

Both of those cereals rocked hard! Hard to resist either as a kid because of the amazing marketing both cereals had plus they were both super sweet and tasty.

I think the cereal was actually called "Cocoa Puffs"...but yeah, I remember that one...it used to turn the milk brown with chocolatey goodness...and my brother and I would actually add Nestle Quik syrup to the milk to make it even chocolatier...damn in retrospect that's just nasty...

The first thing thing that came to my mind of something crunchy and meaty was dog food...lol

I really miss Apple Jacks, I haven't seen them sold in over a decade, probably sold in the states only though.

LOL - that is awesome that you found that movie screencap.

My fave cereal was the Strawberry Shortcake cereal (http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0747/). It was like strawberry Corn Pops.

Whoa hoo ho. Thats the olde school T-Hill Square. Remember the cheese/meat store because Nortown and the craft store beside it? Allllll gone. At least we have a Quiznos now.

Crispy Wheats and Raisins. Strain milk through this stuff and the sugar content will be enough to kill a horse. I started to eat a box a day, then stopped because I felt sorry for my parents footing the bill...

I always liked the Alphabits... the wizard kind, not the computer kind.... I know I know... they're the same thing, but I always remembered the wizard kind to be smaller, sweeter, and have a less preservative taste to it...

the ones with wayne gretzsky on the box , i just can't remember the nambePro-Stars!

--------------------------------------

Let's see if anyone can remember this one -- I have been trying to find out the name of it for years!

I only remember the commercial, simply because it was the most bizarre commercial I have ever seen in my life!

It starts with a slow pan over the some plain full of bear puppets. Shots of bears playing and cavorting. Also on this plain is a gyser, steaming in the foreground -- remember this for later.

Next the commercial cuts over to the (very) nearby mountain whereupon we go to a close-up of a puppet truck driver, driving a honey truck, alternately screaming in panic and fighting for control of his truck as it careens down the mountain path. "No brakes!!" he screams to the camera.

Then we cut over to another truck, this one carrying some other cereal ingredient (rice? corn?) who has the same panicked expression. He, too, screams "Nooo braaaaakes!!!!"

The two trucks collide head-on (not sure how, since they were both travelling down the mountain, but anyway) and fall off the mountain and into the gyser (remember him from earlier?).

Now, all this ruckus has caused some consternation in the bear-folk, who amble over to the gyser to see what all the fuss is about. Just then, the gyser erupts.

Truck parts, bear parts and whole bears go flying all over creation... all the while the voice-over tells us about how delicious this new bear-oriented (flavoured??) cereal is and how we should run out and try it.

Absolutely the greatest commercial I have ever seen in my life, but I only saw it once. It was taped on a Saturday morning and run sometime during The Tick animated show in and around 1998ish.

If anyone knows what the hell this cereal was or, even better, has this commercial on tape, please, please, please let me know!!
