Was shopping at Sears @ Promenade mall today and saw these for $29.99, clearance sale. They still have at least 10 in stock when I left, might be in-store special only so "ymmv". Pretty good deal for 512 mb.

Yea, I agree their hardware side of things are sometimes top-notch, however the same cannot be said for the software side of things. With something like an mp3 player, where pc based software is so important, they cannnot have gotten it more wrong. After so many years, the SonicStage software still makes people tear out their hair.

i use sonicstage software. it is fine. only thing is that it needs is to convert your files before transfering, thats it. anyways, you can fit more songs than normal mp3 players w/o converting software. i tried to use itunes w/ an ipod video. it was absolute garbage. how can all you ipod users stand that garbage software? the sync element of the software sux ass and it needs its own separate file folder in order to transfer mp3s. and it lagged a lot on my athlon xp 1800 system. sonic stage runs smooth on a p3 500. dont complain about the software unless you have somethign to compare it to.

i recall these were $30 at RCSS during their massive clearance in Nov./Dec. ....

as a side note:, RCSS also jacked up a lotta the mp3 player prices... i think these round mp3 player models are now ~$50 there....

Well, for every 100 people that prefer iTunes, you're going to have one that has issues and prefers SonicStage!

I've used both, have a lot of Sony AND Apple hardware, and must give the BIG edge to Apple for MP3 players... if Sony could come up with a better software element, it would be much closer. iTunes, especially on a Mac computer, is an amazing application.... the content available, plus the community of programmers who have provided useful scripts (free) to make it even more powerful, is the best around.

I bought one at BB for 39.99 a couple of months ago. Needed a decent flashbased player for the gym. It's not a bad little gadget, but whenever you take the battery out, you;re stuck having to start back at the top of your songlist when u stick a new one in.

Thanks OP, got 1. Pretty good deal, had to replace mine neway.

Also, they have some Gazelle Supra fitness equipment for like $79.99 too, used to be like close to $300 each. Anyone has any input on this?

Wow...pretty ugly. No offense.

Personally I just use w300i as an Mp3 player now (ridiculously overpriced micro mem sticks - $54.95 for 1GB!) as it's much easier to have one unit to use as a cell and a player (decent games and radio too) than to carry a separate player. My Nano and Creative Zen M both gather dust now.

It's the one single most important reason why MD died. GOD DAMN SONICSTAGE! Good Lord that was a pain to use.

yeah the battery life is awesome but i hated my nwe405- i got 40+ hours of battery life on a single charge but the software was so bad. it was worthy nothing that the rated battery life was 50 hours and i usually got just a bit over 40, im not sure which device supports 70hours and actually lasted that long

i would often connect my mp3 player and sonic stage would say no device is connected. same happened with my sister's round sony (i think the same one posted in this link)

and you have to have all your music converted to sony format and cant use winamp or something else to sync music, as the mp3 players shows up as a mass storage device but the device wont read mp3 copied using mass storage

lastly, the OLED diplays on some sonys looks nice in well lit rooms, but cant be read in sunlight at all

store clearance prices seem to vary by location.

i think the $20 ones are prbly after a big discount (40-50% off)

Just came back from Sears North Vancouver and they are listed now at $79.99 -80%

We bought one for my son and one for the gym at $16 each.

The new sonicstage seems easy enough to so I have no complaints.
