I love vodka coolers, but I noticed they have a lot of sugar and calories.

How much of this stuff comes from the vodka itself?

Let's say I made my own "vodka cooler" by mixing diet pop with straight vodka. Would the vodka itself add sugar or calories to the mix?

vodka in itself doesnt have much calories.
Its the extra sugar that they add to mask the vodka taste that brings up the calorie count.

low calorie drinks include
gin and tonic
orange juice and ____ is okay... but keep in mind OJ has tons of sugar and sometimes bars use those artifical OJ drinks which are high in sugar.

a jigger is about 100 calories. so yeah... it's not bad for you like chocolate cake but it is empty calories coupled with the sugar.

mmm. grey goose. tho i love belvedere vodka too.

vodka in itself doesnt have much calories. Wrong. It is pretty much "energy drink". Alcohol is split to sugar in your stomach. It's part of digestion process. It's just that one can't drink same amount of Vodka as cooler :) So yes, if you wanna get drunk but doesn't get too much weight, drink it straight and warm. Tastes like feces, but it will make you high in no time :)

As my friend has put it,

vodka plus tonic water. Lowest cal cocktail, completely taste like garbage but at least the tonic water helps you get drunk rather than sick.

Bodybuilder's drink he says, it what they drink if they must.

Trick here is to mix alcohol with bubbles (speeds up rate of alcohol's migration into one's bloodstream). And, as I said, if you really want to get drunk fast, warm it up. Tastes even worse, but works even faster.

Thanks for the info everyone. My goal is to avoid the sugar / calories as opposed to getting drunk really fast. (Regardless, I honestly don't get drunk fast given my sex and body weight.)

hmm i'm guessing you mean diet coke and the like. I remember trying green tea + rum. Ugh, never want to have that again. Honestly i'd rather take shots then sip on the stuff.

If it tastes worse, probably would make me sicker faster than drunk.
