Wow i'm drooling after reading threads about buffet places in Tdot and Vancity, here's in Ottawa we do have a few places, you can pretty much count on your fingers but i guess we have to make do with that. Here's the list, please add if you know any other.
1. Dynasty on Carling near Lincoln Fields, prolly the worst in town. My friend works there and she told me NOT to go there, for crying out loud
2. Yang Ming on Merivale near Meadowlands, decent one with good location.
3. Du Barry's on Montreal Rd. One of my fave, good selection with friendly servers.
4. Royal Buffet in South Keys. A bit off the downtown core, small selection but has crab legs and love those baby octopuses. Nice decorations inside, good for dates!
5. The Rideau Carleton Raceway. Lobsters occasionally on board. Pricey but you can catch special deals from time to time. Race track and slot machines are handy too :)
I think there's the Mongolian Grill in Bells Corners but haven't checked it out yet. Any more folks ?

I agree, Royal Buffet is nice, too! My wife and I will drive a fair distance to get there.
There is an Oriental buffet restaurant called Yangming Buffet
in the Emerald Plaza on Merivale, next to the Zellers Plaza. Very simlar to Royal Buffet.
Tucker's Marketplace in the Byward Market on York St. Awesome buffet and you eat free on your birthday (with proper ID of course). Parking sucks, tho.

There a place on Bank Street south of Hunt Club called Kam Fung. I've gotten take out there many times in the past and it was always good.
There's the buffet in Bell's Corners that was once called Foody Goody. I can't remember what it is called now. I don't know if it is under the same ownership as when I've gone to it in the past but it was nothing special.
Gow's is another buffet in Bells Corners that has been around forever. It's across from the Loeb, beside the old Dairy Queen.
On Eagleson in the plaza with the Loblaws there's a buffet called something like Sens Sens.

Lots of places have great lunch buffets.
For Chinese, off the beaten path, go to Veranda D'or on Conroy Road a few clicks from South Keys. It's a very small buffet (only about 8-10 dishes) but far tastier than most. $6.95 buffet for lunch only
The Indian places have great lunch buffets. I like the one across from Britannia theater.
In the east, a tiny but different buffet is Chahayia Malasia, love those huge spring rolls.
All I need to find is a Thai buffet, that would be my dream come true.
When I visited Switzerland, the Movenpick had $19 ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT dinner. You can eat all the yummy Movenpick ice-cream you want!

ohhhh man..Ottawa ! I love the city.....
Went there last year and ha da great brunch in this place called "Noah's"....
Not sure how much it was, maybe 15.00 pp, but well worth every penny ! Ate in the morning, before coming back to Toronto, and had dinner at 9 PM just to kkep the tradition... was not hungry at all !
In a scale from 1 to 10, I'd give Noah's 15...

Is Noah's the restaurant in the Minto Place Hotel? I had dinner there (not buffet) in that hotel restaurant but not sure of the name, but i think it was Noah's.

Thought I would add my 2cents. I was here a while ago thanks to your post and I really enjoyed this place. I'll be heading out to a different brunch place and I hope it will be good as Noah's.

I've been to buffet Yang Ming a couple of times and I really don't like it for the simple fact that they hardly have any vegetable-only dishes, not that I'm a vegetarian, but it would be nice. They do have crab legs though but I think they recently put a restriction on them.

I didn't know you needed ID for a chinese buffet in Gatineau?

There are some new more buffe :
I heard that there will be 1 new in Barhevean , old Wendy.
There was 1 on Terry Fox , near Sobey , it's ok here
My fave one is in Gatineau , near small airport . They has a lot of crab leg (which cost around 20$ / lb) , and live music on weekend . it's far from ottawa , but there are a lot people there .

I've been going to the Royal Buffet at Bank & Hunt Club for many years and never really had a complaint, however when I went there last Sunday evening, the selection was poor, the food wasn't being 'refreshed', and I noticed that one of the chicken wings still had feathers!
Let's just say I lost my appetite and won't be returning to Royal Buffet. >:(
Just a little further south on Bank (near the VW dealership), Kam Fung has a decent buffet and has a "frequent customer card" that you can get stamped everytime you go and leads to free lunch/supper buffets, chinese bowls, etc.
For seafood lovers, I think the buffet place at the Emerald Plaza on Merivale is the most popular. At least all my sushi and crab leg fanatical friends always want to go there when heading out for a buffet. It's also the only place I've seen that offers wasabi which comes in handy in clearing up the sinuses. Minus: it's more expensive than most other chinese buffets
Dubarrys in Vanier is okay. It looks like they have the widest selection plus they've got a Mongolian grill.
Tucker's Marketplace has good quality food but I found their selection fairly sparse for the main course and they seemed to be reluctant to carve a larger slice of turkey/ham. But the deserts were delicious!
The buffet place in the Casino du Lac Leamy is very small and IMHO very over rated (at least the lunch buffet is as I haven't tried the dinner buffet). The selection is very small and it's expensive. Service wasn't that great either... maybe that was because the tip was already included in the price.
 If you're looking for a great Sunday brunch, I would have to recommend JR's Family Restaurant in Almonte (just west of Ottawa). A little pricey but the food is really hearty!
