ummm actually it does work on film bodies :)

True, my English wasn't clear enough. What I meant was DX lens, like AS-F 18-200VR, won't work on film nor potentially future full-frame digital SLR.

I want a 17-35, over a 17-55 (which is never and more expensive). There is a guy selling a 17-55 DX 2.8 on craiglist, for $1400.
