Its interesting.. a lot of people have been commenting that this time around the winnings are very slim.

My co-worker buys a coffee everyday and she says she usually gets a free coffee or muffin every 4th cup. She hasn't won anything yet.

You do win. Remember awhile back two kids found a Tim Hortons cup in the garbage can and rolled it up and it said they won a car. Then they had a dispute regarding about who would own the car. Or was that something else and not Tim Hortons related? I forget.

The scale of Timmy's is amazing.

They advertise over 30,000,000 prizes to be won.

Odds are (according to them) about 1:9.

That means they are selling 270,000,000 hot beverages. That's 10+ per canadian citizen.

I wonder if the car prizes also have the Timmies logo on them? I too have also noticed that (at least for me) this year... I am winning fewer prizes... (none so far :-( ).

Never have so many spent so much in an attempt to win so little.

I can't believe how many people go nuts for this 'contest'. It's hard to drive around this city in the morning because the lineup from Tims stretches onto the street and blocks traffic.

I think my stats are:

5 wins (+1 more given to me)
21 Losses

Thats pretty horrible...

Plus i have a really really bad habit of throwing away the cup when im done. Especially if i have it double cupped with the regular cup on the outside i'll just forget and toss it away. :(

i work for TDL....they operate tim hortons....
i was talking to the guy that supervised the manufacturing of roll up cups..and he told me it's totally random as to what size the prizes are in. You have the same chance of winning a car whether you buy a med. or XL. ..i know the chances are slim, but so far I am 2/3..both coffees tho....
I saw a guy win an IPOD when I was in a store in Calgary, so it's for real...

Yes, but if you're buying a coffee anyways, it's different than a lottery.
I get coffees from Hortons regularly, so it's not like I've changed anything or buy more of them.

They've probably sent all of thier winners to statigs spots througout Canada again like they did last year. They have a stranglehold on Ontario so they concentrait on other parts of Canada.

What p***** me off about Tim's is seeing their cups littered everywhere I look.
Can't even go fishing without finding these all over. Maybe they should make a contest for people who actually dispose of their cups in the garbage. Oh, I guess they wouldn't do that as the extra garbage disposal cost for cleaning up after themselves would cut in to their profits.

+1
How's this for the next 'classic canadiana' Tim's commercial:

Scene: 20 years in the future. A father and son are fishing on a quiet wilderness lake. Their hover-canoe glides gently above the surface of the water. Father takes a sip of his Time Hortons coffee. Son drops his fishing line into the water. The electronic worm swims off in search of a fish to lure.

Suddenly the lcd screen on the fishing rod indicates a strike and the boy selects the 'reel in' option. The lure emerges from the water, attached to it is a discarded "roll up the rim to win" cup circa 2007.

Father: I guess some things never change, eh!

Son throws the old cup back. Father tosses his futuristic coffe cup into the lake. Camera pans out. In the distance a loon calls.

Every cup should be a winner. What Timmies can't afford a base prize of 1 Timbit?

If the above was the case, maybe I'd try. I'm currently 0/0.

But why bother doing that when Canadians keep coming back to this contest each year in droves!

I bet most of the winning cups are in their factory waiting to be shipped out.

Think about it. If all the cups with big prizes were in circulation, there's a chance all the Camry's could be won in the first couple weeks of the contest. That would seriously discourage a lot of customers.

Tim Horton's itself isn't the ones litering. It is the idiots drinking their coffee who are too lazy to trash it afterwards.

...etc...

Minus those who never stop to wait in a line-up 20 + cars deep. You want an iced cap? buy frappuchino mix from Costco - throw into a blender : 2 scoops of the mix, a little cold water or milk [1/4 cup - 2/3rds of a cup], several ice cubes [6 or 7] and blend well. Makes enough for 2, or for one needing a coffee fix. Very yummy, and I can make a ton of those for around $8 or $9 for the can.
