If you've found it cheaper elsewhere, then why don't you just price match it?

How is a hacked machine still in "mint condition" How would you feel if someone sold you a mint condition item only to find it was tampered with and changed somehow...

and screw the refund or exchange policy up for the rest of us? This sort of crap forced costco to revamp their return policy

you make it seem as if this has never happened before. and you make it seem as if it would change a refund or exchange policy. use your head, the most that wil happen is they'll check the firmware for others

Just 'un-hack' everything. If you flashed the menus, unflash it. If you're on a custom firmware, just upgrade to the latest official Sony firmware. Whatever can be hacked can be un-hacked, unless you bricked it of course.

honestly unless you are saving alot, it's probably not worth the trouble. There are reason swhy these stores are selling this thing dirt cheap.

yes you could most likely get away with this but I don't think its the right thing to do.

Just downgrade it back to 1.50. It'll format the flash0 so everything will be back to normal.

I wasn't being a smartass, but hang on... I'll sell you a psp, it doesn't work, the electronics are fried and you could never tell by looking at it... but COSMETICALLY it's in mint condition

ps. now I'm being a smartass, but somewhat smarter than you it seems ;)

Funny...I'd think it was an odd choice to post this ridiculous question in an open forum and expect anything but jeers and criticism.

Yeah if they find out that it's hacked, then they could refuse the return. Legally, Best Buy doesn't have to accept a return from anyone if they don't want to.

Depending on how knowledgeable the person is, you may or may not get away with it.

i'm under the assumption that when you return something new, it goes through a packaging/checking process and becomes sold again as refurb?

if that is the case, you can return it?

No, it's sold as open box. The discount is anywhere from zero to 10%. Usually BB/FS in my parts sell it for a whole $1 cheaper than a new, sealed unit.
