View Full Version : "Four Teens Charged In Alleged Gang Rape In Peel"

Mar 6th, 2007, 10:28 PM
It started as swirling rumour that quickly circulated throughout a school. But the whispers were dramatically amplified after Peel Police arrested four teens for the alleged gang rape of a young girl at a Mississauga home.
Cops contend it happened when a 16-year-old was at an address on Parkwest Place early in the morning of Sunday, February 25th.
They're still trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle, including how the victim was rendered unconscious before her attackers allegedly took advantage of her.
The suspects, all between the ages of 17 and 18, are accused not only of sexually assaulting the girl, but also photographing the incident for posterity on a cell phone camera.
When the alleged victim awoke, she immediately sought medical attention at the Trillium Health Centre's sexual assault and domestic violence unit.
She was treated for minor physical injuries and released.
The quartet is facing a long list of charges, including sexual assault, assault with a weapon, gang sexual assault, and making child porn.
Philip Perry, 18, and Barton Reeder, 18, are both facing charges. The other two suspects can't be named.
Three of those charged attended Cawthra Park Secondary School in Mississauga and detectives think students there may have more tales to tell.
"It scares me that I know these people and I know their friends and I've been to parties with them before," said Jacqueline Adrade, who attends the school.
Police allege at least one other young woman has been victimized and say they're concerned there are others who haven't contacted them yet.
They are appealing to anyone who may know about this or other cases to call the Special Victims Unit at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3460.

according to Canadian law she isn't. I believe its rape b/c she was unconscious and therefore non-consenting.

what's worse is these punks won't be tried as adults but rather as "young offenders", and then be scotch free with clean records when they're over 18. Sorry, scumbags like this don't deserve second chances nor do they deserve "equal opportunities". The Canadian Young Offenders Act is a joke.

I think age 18 is borderline. I think there were some cases of serious crime where 18 yos are trialled as adults. But is this consider serious enough tho, compare to something like murder. Also, do you think they can enlist them as sex-offenders?

That is really unfair how their record gets wiped clean when they turn 18. That just give them the freedom to rape everyone on their street  That is complete BS and its completely unfair to those who has never committed a crime...

thats a pile of crap u just said, lets say that happened to your sister or someone close how would u feel, the victim's life is forever changed cuz of something stupid and becuz a minor gets a clean sheet after 18 would not have to deal with anything the victim has dealt with or has to deal with...
maybe u should think of the future more than the present because its obvious that the system is flawed and is beneficial to those that break the law... just sad that a young female now has to go through life with something like this that would haunt her and has already altered her life

17 Year olds will likely be tried as youths. If they get the maximum penalty for this type of crime (may be 3 years if I'm not mistaken), then AFTER they are released, if they commit any crimes for the next 5 Years then that initial youth record turns into an adult criminal record, which will stay with them forever. If they keep out of trouble during this period, then that youth record is sealed away from their adult life...for the most part.
It would have to have been *extremely* outrageous in order for them to be tried as adults. I'm not saying what they did wasn't...but what I'm saying is that in the eyes of the court there may have been much worse things that could have happened (mutilation, aggrevated sexual assault with a weapon and/or murder during or after the fact, etc). If it's a circumstance like that, they may be tried as adults...but in this case I think it's unlikely.
The 18 year olds are SOL. They will be tried as adults, end of story. This will be on their record for the rest of their life.
I also don't believe youths can be registered as sex offenders...I could be wrong on this, but it would work along the same lines of protecting their identity (similar reason why their names cannot be published in a newspaper), so unless they are tried as adults, it's unlikely they'll be registered.
Poor girl though, I doubt she'll have any sort of faith in our court system after all of this is said and done, not to mention the irreparable harm that was caused to her by these pricks. I know if I were in her shoes I'd feel like they got off scott free at the expense of my consent and innocence.
I really hope that down the road the youths get what's coming to them...because sadly, I know the courts won't likely step in to do it

woh, back off, don't get my sister in this. and I don't understand why this is a pile of crap I just said. I'm speaking from the truth. These scumbags gets through the cracks in most cases. And that is the truth. It may not be agreeable or even justifiable, but it is the truth. If you want to get that law change, don't complain to me or MY SISTER, contact you government representative.
Trust me, if we are allow to castrate them for their crime, I would second that.

exactly, they aren't ever taught a lesson, but she deals with that for the rest of her life... thats where justice is flawed... i just don't think some ppl on this board (mostly kids) understand the broader picture... maybe its just a few of us that look at things from the victim's perspective and are fed up with cops not doing their jobs and just bullying those that are defenceless, and not out there patrolling the streets and firming up the city, and then over-educated prosecutors/law officials just look at things from paper and book but not through the eyes of those victimized... its just sad

People do it all the time. A couple of years ago in Banff a girl went home with two guys, got tag teamed then when she went home she told her boyfriend she was raped. The truth came out at the trial and the two guys were acquitted.
A couple of months later I was asked to retrieve footage from our security cameras by the RCMP. What the cameras caught was a girl wandering around for a couple of hours, then she rolled around in the grass, then in the dirt and then she messed up her hair and went to the RCMP to report a rape. All faked.

The parents of those teenage boys should be ashamed of themselves for not raising them better.
Any girl who is being abused by there boyfriend or experiences any harrassment, or is forced against her will needs to report it.

Actually in Highschools today almost every drug is available just need the right connections . hell in my old school some days it was easier to get drugs or booze then to walk to the mall and try to buy a pack of smokes.
my school was next to a police college/training center and still had a high ammount of people drug users.

I think the boys are old enough to be able to think for themselves. We live in a society that loves to blame everybody and everything else for everything. In some cases there might be good cause for this, but in this case I think that's BS.
Anybody knows rape is a negative thing. Unless the parents taught their kids to commit rape I don't see how this has anything to do with them not raising them any better. You sure are quick to judge and point the finger.
Any guys that hit there girls also need to go to jail. And You know who you are as I'm sure there's tons of guys on this forum that are abusive either physically or mentally.

There are 2 halves to every story.
We still have to hear the other half of the story.
We cannot make quick judgements like this, otherwise we can throw the judicial system in the toilet.
In an ideal world this would be the case. However, and this is a sad thing, nowadays it seems anytime a female comes out with an accusation about sexual or physical abuse people get clouded by their emotions and instant reactions. They forget there are two sides or even more to every story, that females can manipulate and lie, and that people are innocent until proven guilty. Even being charged for something is not an indicator. Police tend to lay charges fairly easily these days on such allegations because of precisely this type of public outcry and reaction. Courts have a mandate to follow in these type of cases and tend to prosecute aggressively. It's become very political.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying these things don't happen or don't happen frequently. But those who think every case is so clear cut and the accused are instantly guilty are very naive. Many females make fake claims against males, especially since they're so easily supported nowadays.
It's also become an environment where if a girl changes her mind after having consensual sex a guy can still be in deep trouble. Night before consensual. Day after regret the "mistake". Uh Oh for the guy. Or girls who think that even if they had consensual sex, because they were drunk it must mean they were taken advantaged of (often even if the guy was drunk too).
It's always easy to have a mob mentality and jump on the emotional bandwagon before waiting a bit and getting a bigger picture in order to better arrive at an opinion objectively.

Why would she go for medical attention immediately after she woke up?
It could still hurt the next morning, even if it wasn't rape. I've woken up after a night of drinking and found out I did something stupid the night before which really hurt in the morning, even though I didn't feel it when it happened.
Or, she doesn't have to be raped to be worried about STDs/pregnancy.
As much as I hate the idea of rape, I really take these stories with a grain of salt. If the girl feels ashamed about it afterwards and tells somebody it was rape, there's unfortunately not much the guy can do to prevent his life from being ruined.

This whole thing just started spreading around the school as a joke because one of the 17 year-olds was bit by her when she was passed out. Then she got tired of all the name-calling and just decided to tell the teachers.
Anyone know how their bail hearings today went?

Based on what you just wrote, your ******, rape hound friends are guilty! If she wasn't awake to enjoy it, then those boys sexually assaulted her and took pornographic photos of a minor. I don't care how slutty this girl is or how drunk she was, if she passed out, those boys had no right to touch her. If she consented and then passed out afterwards, the boys were to immediately stop touching her the second she was no longer able to function.
It doesn't matter that the girl showed up with her own drinks at 3 am. She was unconscious when the boys touched her, that is sexual assault, period!
It's pretty sad that you defend them. That shows what kind of person you are. Last time I checked, being a slut isn't an invitation for anyone and everyone to take a turn as they please.

For those who are misinformed about Canadian law...
A youth criminal record does NOT get erased at 18 years of age. I don't know why so many people think that. It may have been the case decades ago, but it's not the case now and hasn't been for as long as I can remember. Once again, a criminal record does NOT!!!! get erased when a person turns 18.
The Young Offenders Act no longer exists. It has been replaced with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The youths can be tried and sentenced as adults. Whether they will be or not depends on the facts surrounding the case, but it's not uncommon for it to happen.
The age of consent in Canada is 14. The federal Tories are trying to change it to 16 (with a 5 year exception built in) but as of right now, that has not happened.
If these kids get convicted of sexual assault or sexual interference, they will receive jail time of some kind. It's almost guaranteed.

The school had just installed cameras and 8 boys stood accused of raping a girl. Their parents phone the police and the police came to the school to investigate. Turns out there was a camera rolling and the video caught the girl unzipping all of their zippers and giving head to each one of them. Classic case of a *****, not rape.
The boys were obviously freed and their parents realized their child is a pathological lier.
something to think about

12 13 year old boys in Australia raped a mentally disabled 16 year old girl, set her hair on fire, urinated on her, video recorded it and cleverly uploaded it to their myspace as ****: the movie.

Apparently, according to another guy (on the somethingawful forums) that knows them there was a bottle involved. Raping a "slut" is still rape. According to this guy, this isn't even the first time they've done this. Geez, what is wrong with people?

That is really unfair how their record gets wiped clean when they turn 18. That just give them the freedom to rape everyone on their street  That is complete BS and its completely unfair to those who has never committed a crime...

I understand that the law wants to give young offenders a chance, but i think some adjustments should be made for serious issues.

Did you even read any of my posts???
Their record does NOT get erased at 18! People constantly complain about the system due to this misinformed notion. If you are going to complain about the system, please understand what you're complaining against.
