So I bought my first digital camera today (Canon A710 IS), and now I need to learn how to use it. The pictures look like I took them with my cellphone. Does anyone know of some good sites where I can learn how to use the features properly?
Thanks

To be honest, google is your best friend in this one. Also, read the manual - seriously.
So where'd you buy it? I wonder if I sold it to you.

Guy studying film at Ryerson and working part-time (I'm assuming) at Black's in the atrium?

I just got one of these cameras yesterday, too. Ask away. But first, read both manuals that came with the camera. Download it off the Canon website if the guy who sold it to you didn't give you the manuals. It's a pretty simple camera to use and can take terrific photos. 7.1MP, 6x zoom, image stabilization, and PASM modes. Pretty neat.
Since you're starting out, keep the camera in "AUTO" mode until you learn the more advanced features.

Io'm not studying film, but it was either me or one of the people I work with.

I would suggest reading the manual.

Your camera is probably not set to Auto (that little dial that changes scenes/modes/etc)

Disable digital zoom. Make sure the lens isn't dirty.
