Anyone out here have the PhysX Processing Unit or at least know a little bit about it? What is the real purpose of it? Does it improve FPS in games? Is it worth the $200 to $300 price tag?

Is it worth the $200 to $300 price tag?

AFAIK, no.

It doesn't help much at all because very few games support PhysX, and those that do don't improve much. Definitely not worth $300.

If you're going to spend an extra $300 anywhere, spend it on a better video card. That will really improve game performance.

I dont think it improves performance much, just adds extra particle effects and explosion chunks. The only games I can think of offhand that use it are GRAW, City of Villians, and CellFactor. I think the new Unreal 3 engine might be supporting it though.

You're better off waiting to see if it gains any more support and if the price drops.

I agree don't get it. If u see that phys-x demo of graw where it compares the two side by side with and without the card, you'll see it's just a visual effect and doesn't actual contribute to actual gameplay. It's the engine fo the game like CRYSIS which will contribute to the gameplay.

PhysX will probably get phased out anyway once Nvidia and ATI introduce their own phsyics solutions.
