I'm looking to purchase a Movado watch. My question is, because this is used, how can I make sure it's not a replica?
And the story continues....
Edit:
I actually bought it. Went to Movado Group and guess what? It's a replica!!! Now the guy doesn't pick up his phone. What should I do? I tried calling him off different phones but nothing. I have his phone number and his name, but it doesn't seem to be in the 411.ca ontop of that he's also selling two other watches (Tags) and I'm sure those are fake too. (Check post #8)

why do you want to buy a USED watch??
kind of gross...
Why is that? A good cleaning with some rubbing alcohol, and it's good to go, it's not like I'm buying a toothbrush.
I'm meeting with that person, so I don't really have any pictures.

don't quote me on this, but the glass is made out of sapphire, if you turn it around against the light, you should see a blue reflection

Maybe if you would have posted some pics or showed us the link to the watch you could have prevented this. NEVER buy an expensive watch without quality pictures and references.
When I sold my Omega Speedmaster last year, I had it serviced a week before, and the buyer called the person who serviced my watch, who was a reputable person on the forums I was selling on, to confirm it's authenticity. THat's the only way to be sure.

Lol. I didn't buy it off RFD, it was off craigslist. >:( Sucks. If it was off here I could have gotten some more info. I picked up the watch from Bloor and Brunswick (second street W of Spadina).

Consider yourself lucky it was only $200 this time. Consider the money lost because the chances of you getting it back are slim to none. I wouldn't even bother filing a police report since police usually never take the time to investigate anything under $10k in fraud.

wow sorry to hear that.
Post an actual pic of the watch and also a link to the craiglist post. Hopefully it will save someone else from being scammed.
A little off-topic but I bought a Tag Kirium off of eBay.ca (seller was reputable and is still selling Tags). I also brought it to LaSwiss to have the bracelet sized. Is that good enough to guarantee authenticity or should I bring it somewhere else to verify?
LaSwiss is pretty reputable though right?

OP should post an account with an interest in looking for watches and should not seem to interested to buy the scammer's watches. After a day or two through the line and wait for the hook :D

The ad says "BOX/MANUAL/CASE: NOT INCLUDED". Didn't you realize that was a big red flag?

When I was in China, they were selling a men's and women's movado set for $20 CAD! I'm guessing that's where he got it from.
