Nero Vision Replacement, Suggestion?

I always use Nero Vision when I was running WinXP and it always does the job for me (transcoding AVI into a DVD). Now when I am running Vista, Nero Vision often freezes and would not convert my AVI files.

So what other software can you recommend that does the job for me in Vista? Any freeware?
