I know Thermaltake makes some cases using those, but does anybody know where in Toronto or around can I find one of this 250mm monsters? Would prefer not to order from online, and buy it from a retailer. And a side panel with such a fan won't do, I need just the fan by itself.
Any guess work like "try to look there" is unlikely to be helpful, since it's quite a rare find, so if you know the place for sure - I'm all eyes and ears.

If Bigfoot doesn;t have it, they might know of some other retailer.
Thats a big honkin fan, maybe easier to fit this into a case:

I'm also interested in knowing who sells 250mm fans in Canada.

Actually, not a bad idea. I've been thinking about putting one of these inside. Another idea is using the fan from the vacuum cleaner. Although it's a little loud, big, and wastes too much energy, that shouldn't be a problem for a true modder! :D

Well I own that TermalTake case that has the 25cm fan..its huge. But yeah the only place that I found who had it was Canada Computers.

Though they are all out now, probably cuz there was a great rebate on them a month ago(when I purchased mine)
But they are the only dealer in Toronto selling the case that I know of. If you are just looking for the side panel then I have no clue. I know you can buy seperate but would have to be from ncix. It's a really good case though...So much room to hold wtvr I want.

Thermaltake's cases with 25cm fans are sold all over the place, not just at Canada Computers, just like the side panels with the fan. However, that's the problem, that I ONLY need the fan, without anything attached to it (except, possibly, the wire :) ) Also, TT's side panels won't do as they're only supposed to be used for TT's cases, none of which I own, and I'm not sure if they'll fit my case. And "check" is not good enough either, since I don't want to have a side panel in the case, which is not supposed to have one. Simply for esthetical reasons.

Why not get one of those genric case with the fan for $50 and then sell the case without the fan? btw the one i have in my case is actually 21cm only even though it was advertised as 25cm.

Kind of a sweet idea. Although some people might question the purpose of a big hole in the side panel
Also, can't really say how good of a fan will a generic case carry. I know - a fan is a fan but... Actually, I may try that. Although not sure how would it be more expensive - buy a side panel, take the fan off and sell it (but why would anyone need a side panel?) Or the whole case, which would be about $10 more expensive (I hope, that side panel's quality worth it), but has a better chance of being sold.

Those side panels have a mesh so they still look nice even if you took out the 25cm fan.

Yeah, well, I actually took time to write to Tiger Direct to see if they'll do a special order for me. Waiting for a reply. If it's gonna cost over $20, I might as well get the side panel. Or wait until someone gets smart to take a market with no competitors.

Wo makes the case you have? Try contacting them... Silverstone, Cooler master and Antec etc will all gladly sell you one if you email them.
Or you could also use one of those fan adapter things.

Mine's Aopen. And it's not even supposed to have a fan, I'm just gonna mod the case to my tastes. Beside, it doesn't matter what brand the case is. All that matters is that NOBODY sells them ANYWHERE. Oh, and don't tell me if I get just any fan, it'll be incompatible. Pu-leeeezzzz...

I just had a thought..I am not sure if you could undervolt them but the 12 volt fans used on todays cars to cool the radiator move serious amounts of air.
Check these links..up to 1600 cfm...oh yeaaaahhhhh

Funny guy, eh? Why not go a step further and get myself an aircraft turbine?
Have you taken in account the noise? Beside - have you seen the power drainage of this thing? The standard fans 120mm and over use about 0.2A. I'm gonna have to get myself a separate power supply for the baby you proposed. A new PSU for cooling CPU. Kinda ironic, no?
Ok, all sarcasm aside. If it'd work where I've mentioned, I'd love the idea. Again - given it would fit into the case. 'Cause it seems to be a little deep.
On the second thought... I think, it's gonna blow my mobo with the processor and everything else out of the case. I'm not even sure I've got enough air in my room for this fan to move :)

Shoot! They ARE available. At least, they have been a year ago.

I saw that at FrozenCPU a while ago too. That's what got me thinking about modding my case.

Went today to College/Spadina to see if any of those have the fan. Wanted to see them in person, in case someone doesn't advertise on the internet.
NOT A SINGLE ONE GOT THEM. Seriously, if someone decides to manufacture them in Canada, they'll have a 100% market share.

If a store decides to import some from the US and sell them here, they'd have 100% of the customers.

Maybe I should just let my dog sit near the computer and let it wave its tail inside the case. Oh, wait, I don't have a dog... Anybody got a dog I could borrow?

I have now... But as the thread stated in the very beginning EXTREMELY clearly, I'm looking for the fan only. I've got full-tower Aopen case and I'm not going to switch to some mid-tower noname cheap case. And spending $200 for a Thermaltake case is not an option.
What I'm looking for is 18cm-25cm fan for under $25. That's it, no exceptions.
