I'm thinking of traveling to countries like Ukraine, where not many tourists have gone.
Unfortunately I don't speak any Russian. Maybe learn a couple phrases here and there with language CD's.
Do you guys have any suggestions as to the best places to get info online for traveling to places like Odessa? Forums with message boards from travellers would be great.
Thanks.

Also the "something tree" at the Lonely Planet website. Lot of backpacker tales but some good recent info.

The best site is to go to Fodor's travel talk section. You get opinions by real people. I've always found Tripadvisor to be iffy and virtualtourist useless.

http://www.eurocheapo.com/ has good reviews of places to stay in europe (and north america) on a budget - as well as some other good info too.

Lonely Planet Thorn Tree for the best, current, on the ground information. It's mainly a backpacker/flashpacker crowd though...but that's the best (only) way to travel anyways :)

So the opinions of the folks on the forums of Tripadvisor and virtualtourist are not real people and not as reliable and iffy and useless compared to the opinions of the folks on the forums on Fodors?
Puleez Eyeman, opinions are like a--holes, the Fodors folks have em too. No one insults other forums, they all serve a need, just a response to the OP.

G.A.P Adventures, a small group adventure tour company based in Toronto, just launched their new forum: http://www.gapadventures.com/forum/
I'm travelling to SE Asia next week on 1 of their tours.
