I checked yesterday on the Air Canada. I can travel from Edmonton to HK for about $1000, Mar-May. Cheapest price I recall from Air Canada in the last 15 years. Not so happy, cause I got my ticket earlier for $1200. 4 tickets, so we kiss goodbye to $800.

Came back from HK in early January. Had a blast there! Hadn't been there for about 10 years. A lot of things changed but still had lots of fun. So many things to eat. YUM. Planning to go back again during Christmas (Dec. 24). I got quoted $1555 on Air Canada and 1480 on Continental leaving YYZ

christmas is probably the best time to go back.. at least for me. the last time i went in the middle of a summer, which was WAY back when, i had to go to the hospital.
i absolutely love HK and half my family lives there, hearing about how all u guys went back makes me wanna go back so badly, even though i went back last june (but for personal reasons, no time for leisure)

if you are willing to travel airlines like air china and china airlines, they are usually a bit over 1000 including taxes if you book it ahead of time. try toureast.com

I will depart at Buffalo airport... then search and compare a bit for US airlines from the airport...
if you look around at Pacific Mall then you may get sth really cheap... I saw 990 + tax etc for CX... wow CX

I been looking for flights for my folks to go to Seoul and flights from buffalo vs toronto weren't that much cheaper. Around $1000 CDN seems to be the norm for Toronto and around $950 USD from buffalo (but cheaper taxes) but you then have to get to and from buffalo which pretty much cancels out your savings.
Bear in mind that was for a specific flight date

I spent 3 nights and 4 days in Hong Kong, during early Feb, there was so much to do that I didn't even venture into Kowloon side! Actually my past 2 trips to HK (because they were only a few nights) I didnt even get a chance to go to Kowloon, just too much to do and eat and see...
My girlfriend was with me and it was her first time in HK, she loved the place so much!
I flew to Shanghai first because my mom moved there from HK after I moved away...Spent about 1300CDN for the plane ticket (with AC via YVR) but you can usually get it for sub 1000 during off season (it was CNY this time) if you fly through the states.
Then from Shanghai my mom got a deal of about 500 CDN for the plane ticket and 4* Hotel for 3 nights. Very good deal.
