cheapest way would be to make new hotmail accounts and sign them up! hahah. im not sure how many accounts you can make on one xbox though, Oh well. it works.

Oh and id say to buy off RFD. seems that they go on sale ocassionally. And i heard you can get them for cheap on eBay

Depends...some sellers won't do that

eBay's probably your best bet. On average from what I've seen, they go for about $50cdn, which is pretty decent considering it retails for $59.99+tax. Most sellers email you the code so you can activate it within a day. It's definitely convenient. But the above poster is right though. Make sure that the seller says he/she will be able to email the code, or else shipping might just negate the deal.

I've bought XBOX Live subscriptions off ebay with no problems for around US$35.

Two notes:

1. You don't need to buy a GOLD subscription. If you have a 360 and buy the regular XBOX Live subscription, it will be GOLD when you use it. I've done this twice (most recently Dec/06)

2. There has been some discussion elsewhere on RFD indicating that some US subscriptions may not work in Canada. Some of the ebay auctions indicate this so you might want to be careful of this.

One thing for sure is to NEVER EVER let it just run over, for the price it costs for it to automatically run over you can almost pick up a kit instore at FS or BB that includes the Vision Camera, UNO, a backup headset and 200 M$ points

I don't see why you can't renew your account with a code.
I extend mine with the normal Gold Live packs that have codes that you buy off Futureshop etc.
The best deal right now would be the one listed in the Hot Deals section for the Live Camera Gold bundle at Factory Direct for $39.99.
You can use the webcam on your PC as well. I use it for my skype calls :D
