Wii HD vs No-name HD cables

Hi Everyone,

I was looking into buying the HD cable for the Wii and noticed there are a couple of no-names flying all over the Internet i.e. Ebay.

1 - Wondering if anyone has tested the Wii HD cable vs the no-names?

2 - Does anyone have a no-name cable and are you happy with it.

I ask because the no names are much cheaper.

No difference betweet brand name and no-name cables.

So I suggest go for cheap one.

Thanks, but can you give me some details? I know with cables like optical or HDMI there is no difference.

However, quality does affect cables like s-video and RCA.

I am using the one from Play Asia and from what ppl reviewed, there is really no difference.

Same thing with over priced Monster-Crap(ble) vs. monoprice cables.

Typically there is no difference as long as the price is not ridiculously dirt cheap for an unknown reason.

My relevent example was buying a pair of Pelican GC S-Video cables for $9 a few years ago. Compared to the official Nintendo ones, there were obvious scan lines. The image does improve from regular composite cables, but artifacts were introduced by the third party cables. It really is a case of you get what you paid for.

The really cheap cables might have poor quality connectors which get loose with use (esp if you move the console).

For the most part, there shouldn't be any difference between the nonames and brand names. Unless you have a pro grade display and look at test patterns.

I've bought a set of component cables (no name - $8) from a fellow RFD seller.

Can't notice any difference w/ the $49 cables (ASID i think) from walmart.

Will let y'all know if my tv explodes.

Using unlicensed cables can void your warranty. Stupid, but true. I suppose you'll be alright with a 3'rd party cable. I have the official and you can get them at best buy now, but if you ever see Mad Catz garbage, just stay away from them.

My mad catz component for xbox were pure garbage. The microsoft ones were great. Due to that, I bought the nintendo cables for the wii...

I bought a set from e-bay for 8.99 USD. Cables are of amazing quality. Hi gauge cables, by design aligned nicely and (with a flat like clip keeping them organized), and gold connectors.

Installed it, and noticed the difference immediately! (not a big change, but a lot nicer!)

Cables are tight, no issues of looseness.

Mind you, just received them yesterday, so I'll post an update if required.

As the ING guy on TV says..."Save your money!"

I bought the Mad Catz one despite my better judgement and they actually perform very well. I had some video issues but it was the Wii itself that was faulty and a subsequent replacement from Nintendo fixed all that.

Looking at the Wii Components they sell at Best Buy...I don't see much of a difference, both Nintendo and ASiD look very poor IMO.

Honestly, though over priced MonsterCable for Consoles are the best...I see they don't make them for Nintendo/Wii.
