Can anyone recommend a Jewish place to eat as well as a place to try some "soul food"?

We had luch at Katz's Deli. It was good, but kind of pricey. It was on the corner of Houston and Ludlow.
They give you this ticket before you enter, you order your stuff at the counters, pick it up, eat, and then pay at the front with the ticket that was given to you when you first entered.
You have to keep this ticket with you and they will charge you if you lose it. You need to keep it even if you have not eaten anything. Weird.
Carnegie Deli is a great choice as well. I thinkk it's on 7th Ave between 54th and 55th Street. Soup Kitchen International (Seinfeld Soup Nazi) is also in that area on 55th about 2 blocks west.
Stage Deli is about a block south of the Carnegie Deli.
If you are a fan of the David Letterman show, you can try eating at the Hello Deli on 53rd and Broadway.
Carnegie, Stage, and Hello Deli's are all very close to one another.
You will have to go to Harlem to get any good 'Soul Food'. I heard Sylvia's is good.

Avoid The Taco Bell / KFC in the west village....seems they have rats working for them.
