Got a bit of slack for posting my wii for sale on my personal journal, now, I did price it higher than I expected to get but I still didn't think it was completely unreasonable.

Help me out and tell me if I am a money grubbing jerk guy:

Wii Console $280
Wiimote $45
Wii Nunchuk $25
Wii Classic Controller $25
Wii Points $60 (only ~800 left, bought 3 VC games)
Ravin Rabbids $60
GC controllers $20
GC StarWars $20
Thats about $600 with taxes for all that stuff, I asked $666.

ps: Not really a thinly disguised FS post as I don't want to sell anything but local...well maybe it is...I dunno...I got to get back to work.

Hmm.... I think the problem people have is paying the cost+premium for a used system (I'm assuming it's a used system).

At cost, I think you would have takers... to bump up the price of a used system by $66.00 is a bit much for them I believe (when they can snag a *new* Wii at-cost).

If you put this up on eBay I think you shouldn't have a problem hitting your $666 target (the price of the Wii alone is going for CAN$425 before shipping, although a used system may fetch less). With your other items, you should fetch around $600 (don't hold me to it though).

This is RFD.. not the best place to make a profit on a used system imo. :(

PS: No, you are not a money-grubbin' jerk. If ppl don't want to pay you the money they can go line up themselves and stop whining about it to you. If they don't wanna put in the effort, then they better put out the cash, baby. :)

PPS: In my own opinion, I think it's a tad overpriced for a used system. I'd work extra hard searching and paying the same price for a new system. Then again, just me.

Some of those prices are brand new prices. (Nunchuk and classic controller, & RR). And not too sure about the Wii points either, depends on what 3 VC games you downloaded.

I'm sure you left yourself some wiggle room to negotiate so that you wouldn't get lowballed. But I think it might be a tad overpriced.

Just my $0.02.

I didn't even want to pay a premium for a new system, never mind used.

 The prices I've been seeing are $350 to $370 for new, not including the usually extortionist shipping charges. People have been avoiding the listings with a buy it now of more than that. And a couple of weeks ago, someone with a used system with better specs than the ops had theirs go for about $580, which was probably reasonable if one liked all his game choices.
(all prices CAD)
Unless the prices have been going up in the last week??

Ppl do make the effort and line up, and still get shut out. Scalpers are free to buy up systems they don't want to sell for profit, but they should also be prepared to be ragged on for it.

On that, I agree.

If you asked Retail Price for your used then people are still interested. When you price it higher than NEW, people will complain. That's a nice package so being flexible on the whole package or removing a few items will make it attractive.

Right now you won't get more than cost price for a used Wii. Yes the BST forums have them selling for about $350 per BNIB console but if you look at them no one is buying. They've been bumped for weeks with constant price drops. If you truly want to sell it, sell it at a more reasonable price and it will move otherwise you'll be bumping your thread for so long that the value will drop and you will no longer be able to get even cost. Wii's are starting to get much easier to find.

If you're curious, I paid $380 for a brand-new system the other day -- I wasn't willing to stand in line (or wait) so I considered the $60 above what I would have paid retail ($280 plus GST plus Ontario PST) to be a convenience fee. I was okay with doing that for a new system, in the box, where I knew when and where it was purchased and that I could activate the warranty myself. $380 was about the lowest I saw a new system go for on Ebay, and then you had to factor in shipping or pick-up costs.

I would not be willing to pay a premium for a used system, especially when there are quite a few people selling new systems. I suspect many other people feel the same way; I also suspect that you would easily sell the system if you price it reasonably. A good way to get an indication of what you could get for the system is to look at the posts on sites like Craigslist and seeing what other people are selling for.

FYI, the classic controller is available in stores, so a markup on that doesn't make much sense. You've really overpriced the Wii points -- you can buy 2000 for $25 at many places in the city. And the Rabbits Wii game sells for $60 new; I saw a used copy at EB yesterday for $35. You're probably better off selling the Wiimote and nunchuk controllers seperately, because people are willing to pay a high price for those, if Ebay and CL are any indication.

$400 for used Wii, plus extra remote and Zelda.

So Zelda for $40, remote for $40 and Wii bundle at cost. Seems reasonable.
