I know there's sites where you go and you put in the price you're willing to pay for a ticket and then you see if you're bid is accepted or not (Priceline?). So, some questions for anybody who knows what I'm talking about.

I am planning to go from Calgary to Toronto....actually I'd prefer to go from Cranbrook to Toronto but looking at air canada's prices I save $200 each way if I drive the 4 hours to Calgary.

Anyway, from Calg to Toronto is $155 From Cranbrook to Toronto is about $350.

If I go to a bidding site how much can I hope to save? Is there any chance in the world that I could bid the $155 right from Cranbrook to Toronto and possibly get it or is that just way to low? I also need a hotel while I'm in Toronto. How much lower can I hope to get a hotel for?

Priceline requires that you depart from a US city. It doesn't give tickets for flights from one Canadian city to another.

You can use Priceline for hotels in Toronto. You can look at the following 2 websites, to get an idea of the prices other people are getting for hotels in Toronto with Priceline.

Thanks for the links, they have some good info!

So have you ever booked through Priceline? Do you know what price I can expect to win a hotel for in Toronto? Also, are there any areas I should stay away from?

The niceness of the hotel isn't all that important to me, I mean I don't want something slummy but I'm not going to be spending a whole lot of time there so price is much more important than something really nice. What I'd really like is to be able to get to some places on foot (or shuttle, I don't care) like shopping and night stuff.

Also try expedia.ca and your local travel agents.

I have booked through priceline just recently and you can save a lot of money using the bid option. I'd highly advise that you look at the biddingfortravel.com website (I think thats the one) in order to determine the best way for you to bid.

The best rate that I could find was $149 CAD for a 5-star hotel prior to taxes and fees. I ended up getting the same hotel for $120 CAD everything in. It's definitely worth your while for hotels
