Strip it, put it back together and tape it up.
Use candles.
Make your own.
The only thing that goes through that cord is power. It wouldn't be hard to fix.

I'd assume the replacement wouldn't exactly be quick. They would ship the sensor bar off for repair I'm sure as there would be no need to replace the entire system.
If it were me, considering my Wii would be modded, I would no doubt solder the wires and tape em up. However, I can't imagine your warranty being valid after doing either of those things ;) To sum up, if you are comfortable with soldering and invalidating your warranty, go ahead...otherwise, you are stuck purchasing a new sensor bar for fast service or somehow BSing as was previously stated)to either Nintendo or BB to get a replacement ASAP.

arent those bestbuy/futureshop service plans cover practically anything that happens?

no, the PSP from BB/FS are not like the complete care warranties from Dell. They do not cover accidental damage, they are essentially a normal extended warranty with a few other perks (replacement after 3 repairs, etc.)

should be a straight exchange.. because it is still under the 90 day manufactures warrenty, the psp warrenty doesn't come into effect after the 90days is that correct ??

hrm you know, you might be correct on that point...however, the issue with a straight exchange of course is the massive Wii shortage...so I'm not sure what they would do since it is unlikely that there would be a Wii on premises when the exchange is made.

Use candles. They work the same way. He uses tealights on his projector and they play tennis on a 100+ inch screen. It's fun.

STICK A BATTERY TO IT (with the right specs [v/I] of course)

Just order a new one from Nintendo. And in the meantime, split the wires and attach them to a battery.

you'll notice the tiny wires inside are coated in a paint-like insulation, you'll either have to scrape or burn it off. Personally I burn it with a 1/2 second or so flame, then clean it off with alcohol. Spliced mine first to a DC adapter, then opted to re-splice it to some cat5 to just make it reach from my wii to my screen instead. It's a projector setup.

just to give some closure to this thread, I called Nintendo once and the guy was a douche and said I had to pay, Best Buy offered to replace my Wii system altogether, but goodluck finding a Wii again. I callled Nintendo one last time ready to purchase a sensor bar and the CSR was mad cool and I told him the problem and he was like "Take My solution, Ill send it to you for free" So ill get one within a weeks time

Nintendo or BestBuy aren't going to do anything for you because it's considered physical damage. That's like hammering your wii and asking for a new one.
Either pay for something new or order that wireless one.

Nice. I had to pay $12 for my replacement bar :|
I found that the clips the wire runs through under the sensor bar damage the wires causing it to work intermittently.
So I got my new sensor bar, wiggled the old wires one last time and teh old one came back to life! Of well, atleast now I have a spare :cheesygri

OK people, by now everyone should know the sensor is simply just a bunch of lights with no communication to the Wii. When the wire or other part break just crack it open, fix it. Replacement options are: buy from Nintendo, get after market or build your own (google for detail). It's not rocket science.
My plans are to build one directly into my projector screen lower bar.
Woah!

I've seen you mention several times before how you play in front of a projector.
Curiosity has finally gotten the better of me and I can help but ask how you play on a Wii without casting shadows on the screen.
Sit down games I can understand, but since the Wii can be a much more physical (ie: standing/arms flailing in front of your screen) I was wondering how you manage to play.
My guess is that you're standing underneath a ceiling mounted projector,or behind a coffee table type.
Are the sensors still accurate with that distance & front projected light????
This would add a whole new dimension to gameplay, and if they start to release some more adult-style titles(sorry, that's just my preference) I may just re-buy a Wii.
