It's hit and miss with the store. don't know what the problem is, but I'm sure it's Nintendo's fault.

I've had no problems with it either. However, I did download it right it was announced last night. The servers are probably packed right now.

I have tried it the first time and it froze on me. It kept saying CONNECT but no result. I had to turn off the machine and restart it. 2nd try was good!

No issues downloading it for me. Was lightning quick compared to the browser to download. All done in less than 2 minutes.

My story is:
After receiving the system message last night about the Vote Channel, I went ahead and did a system update which took around 15 mins. It was performed successfully in the end and then I went to the Shop Channel. I waited 15 mins at the screen where there's a Big WII logo in the middle and a blue circle keeps rotating. So I guess there's a problem with my wireless connection so I went back and reset my connection and did a "Test connection" with my Wii and it looked okay. So I went back to Shop Channel and this time it took 1 min to pass thru that Wii logo page and then I was led to the page where there's a message saying "Connecting... Please Wait"...and I waited for another 15 mins and nothing happened. Did you guys have this problem? evnetually last night I had to switch the power off to turn it off (luckily it's not doing a system update, so I guess it's okay to turn it off this way).
Any help?

Common problem with the Shop channel. Just means its too congested and nothing much you can do on your end.

I performed an update last night around 8pm and it went in ok.
I actually voted on some of the questions.

I broke open my Wii last night (yes... I'm finally keeping one!), and ran a full system-update (around 10PM). Took less than 10 minutes and had no problems with any of the channels.
I guess the voting channel is really new and was just released yesterday or last night?
THe channel's ok.. haven't really had a chance to see everything it offers yet. For "free' though... it's a bargain!! :D

The channel released very early yesterday morning. I remember going to bed at around midnight and then when I woke up at 5:30 in the morning my Wii was glowing blue.
I see this as an opportunity for Nintendo to use it as a market research tool, they can ask questions about games we'd like to see made (or imported and localized from other countries)/game content etc.
I didn't have any trouble downloading the updates/channel (even in the snowstorm, which is when my connection can get very wonky)
I've already voted on the questions, and submitted a question of my own.

Man that's scary. You broke it open?
You won't be disappointed at what the Wii has to offer and finally be able to understand why everyone wants to buy one off you on eBay.

I have my wii since Saturday and I'm always having that problem. I was able to update my system but every time I try to connect to the shop channel, I got that message and the only way to get out it's to unplug the wii. It's not my network because I'm using my laptop in front of the TV and the signal is always around 85-95%. I guess it's on Nintendo side...

Lol... umm.. not literally. I meant opening the box. :D Hell, it looks so pretty I'm having second thoughts on modding the sucker.
Yes... so far it's great... Played Wii Sports, WarioWare, Zelda, Rayman and Wii Play. Everything's a blast (except maybe Wii Play... disappointing, but wanted the remote)! The online features terrific... nothing is better than "free"!!
I think I understand now why people are willing to pay me exhorbitant amounts of money for one of these puppies. I thought all along it was because of the pretty white box. :D
Hey, let's keep my identify secret, eh? I'm trying to make a livin' here! ;)

This was exactly what happened to me as well. I tried several times during the evening and it just kept doing it. I'll have to justkeep trying..

Yup, the Wii Shop and updates definitely have some problems.
I was stuck at the "connecting" page for 20+ minutes until I just turned the Wii off (My second attempt only took a couple minutes).
This has also happened to me once in the past, so every time I connect to something (news, weather, shop, update), I'm always weary of this.

I did experience this stall once when I first brought my Wii online. But since then I haven't had problems. Sometimes it will stall, but it could just be that the wireless signal is so weak (my router is in my basement and Wii is on the 2nd floor in my bedroom), or because the battery in the Wiimote was dying or because the Wiimote wasn't synced.

yes , thanks for your comments. it makes me feel a bit less worry since I wasn't the only one who experienced the problem. Actually this is the 2nd update for me and the 1st update for weather, news channel etc went though okay. it's just this one. :<>:(

Yeah I usually attribute the stalls to my wireless signal, because it's quite a long way from my basement to my bedroom plus you add in the interference and possibly the weather affecting the signal. And really my Wii only stalled on the first update when I brought my Wii online for the first time. This update was probably the fastest one I experience thus far. But I hope that those of you that are having trouble are able to get it fixed soon.

yeah i had the same problem with mine just change you internet's channel to 1 or 11. Whatever internet company your router is it usually comes with a disc the brings you to a website that allows you to change channels.
good luck

I remember having a problem with the channels, I had to switch it to either 1 or 11 from the channel I was originally on, but I thought there was an error message associated with it that also advised me to contact customer care to rectify the problem.

I downloaded it around 8pm EST last night, there was no problem whatsoever. Download too 2 minutes, which was much faster than I expected, but it was a simple program anyways.

Yes I had that problem and it pissed the hell outta me. Sometimes it would tease me and load one page and not work at all. What I did was change my Wireless Router channel. I used a random channel like 11. After I did that, I could download OPERA in like 5-6 mario runs. Fiddle with your router settings and do so trial and error. Your bound to find a channel that will give you the best signal.
