I ran Windows Vista upgrade from Windows XP Pro. Many files had corrupted away with no error code leaving only void folders behind. It seemed to not discriminate based on size or location. To be safe, when I removed Vista I repartitioned all drives involved in running the OS so I thought I wouldn't lose any more, but I lost my entire data. Unfortunately I cannot provide very much technical information about this issue to assist in tracking the problem. Please help me.

I ran into problems like that alot at work from many noobie laptop clients, however I used the following data recovery applications listed below to recover those NTFS partitions from Windows XP with great success:

1) Runtime GetDataBack for FAT / NTFS v3.03.12
2) GetDataBack NTFS v3.02
3) RAID Reconstructor v3.02
4) DiskExplorer for NTFS v3.01

Make sure you have another partition or drive to move all the recovered data too, coz you must not try to re-write it back to the failed drive until it's been reformated or repartitioned and/or replaced all together. If your hard drive is a SATA w/i RAID, it will even works better, put your hard drive in an external usb enclosure and then reconstructure your NTFS files. But I don't know if these apps will work with Vista coz its still so new to the market, coz I've never tried Vista. Good luck and always backup if u're planning to use your Visa! :)

File scavenger is a great program to recover data and it will recognize a RAID array if you can get it into Windows . . . the only problem with the program is that it has to run in Windows, as far as I recall. I highly recommend it.
