View Full Version : Bad memory?

Running an Athlon 2500+ with 1GB ram. Originally had a 512 stick, and I added another a year ago (some NCIX kingston on special).

I just ran some performance testing software from passmark.com, and my comp did ok, except for the memory. I got a very low score, much much much lower than my GF's Acer laptop that also has 1GB ram.

Any suggestions? Should I buy a stick that matches the one I added? Could I have bought the wrong RAM? What are some things I can check?

The comp does recognize the full 1024MB while loading and under system information.

The laptop has 2x 512, meaning its running at DDR2 speeds.

What was the question again?

I think my memory is bad because I got a way lower score on the memory test I ran on both my comp and my gf's comp, but both comps have 1GB Ram.

nope, your memory is fine. It's all about latency, type, brand, etc.
Plus if you mix and match different brands, you'll notice a slow down.
