i got a government interview lined up this friday... two questions that im never good at answering are

1. why do you want to work for us
if i was honest i would say i need a decent pay summer job, and i heard you can slack off the most in the government.... but i actually want the job lol...

2. tell us about yourself

anyone gone through interviews with the govenrment recently? what other questions do they ask most? reading through the old threads right now...

my is with CRA in ottawa

1. Research the positon, what it entails, etc. Sell yourself as being the best suitable candidate to fill that role.

2. Give a summary of your relevant education, work experience, as well as qualities that they are looking for in a candidate.

Do you mind if I ask you how you got this government interview?

DId you get hooked up via connections (which I hear is how most people get government jobs) or through the government job sites?

applied, took the test, and took another test then they called me after 2 month, i was with Stats canada last april to sept, then i quit cause of school, when i gave my 2week notice, I took 6 sick days and personal day, cause i had to use it up hahaha

as far as i know and managers told me, even if someone "hooked you up" the most they can do is put your name on the testing list, which is what happened to me, told my manager last year i only wanna work in the summer, so she put my resume in a pool of some sort, you would still have to do the actual test and interview, , and you need test scores to be on your profile anyways.

For #1 explain how it fits with your interests/career goals.

ie/ If it's a finance job let them know you are really interested in learning more about finance and accounting and this will give you more experience when your are going for your ca/cma/cga in the future.
