Hi can you guys give me some advice on my new setup i want to build, i want to overclock it to over 3Ghz on the e4300. Which RAM do u guys think works better the OCZ 2G (1G X2) DDR2800 Dual Channel Platinum REV 2 XTC Edition(4-4-4-16) or OCZ 2G (1G X2) DDR2533 DDR2 Dual Channel GOLD XTC Edition
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
Asus P5N32-SLi SE
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320Gb
Antec P-180B
OCZ 600w GameXStream
Asus Extreme N8800GTX
Zalman CNPS 9700 NT LED Heatsink
What do you guys think can i build a faster comp for gaming for that price ?
Thank's

no competition... get the platinum.
Just to give you a heads up, anything beyond 3.3 ghz and your processor will start to get really hot with the 9700.
I'm running a e6300 at 3.33 stable on a Evga 680i mobo with XTC Platinum 6400 running at 954mhz stable with 5-5-5-12 timing.
On load the processor gets up to about 74 Celsius even though I have a 9700.
You might want to hold off before you spend the money on an 8800gtx... the nvidia cards are about to drop in price because they're releasing their second line of DX10 cards in a couple months.
you might want to think about getting 2 harddrives and running them in RAID. It makes a significant difference in your pc's performance.

ocz gold is fine too
my e6600 is running at 3.6ghz at 1.36v at 8x450mhz, memory voltage at 2.1v
just be careful with people who says they run their memory at xxx speed but does not mention the voltage they are running them at
same thing about cpu.... running them at 3.6ghz at 1.5v... kind of HIGH!
in regards to e4300, because they are all batched year 2007 (i got two), MAKE SURE YOUR MOTHERBOARD has the latest flash for the BIOS otherwise it won't boot or give you some funny number

No, 1.5v is high on the spectrum but not the limits of these processors. Majority of people running e6300 and e4300 have to pump high voltages through their processors in order to achieve the high speeds. Again, this has to be done carefully, because there are numerous issues that you need to keep an eye on, such as Temp and Instability. If you do decide to overclock, download a program called Orthos and run it to check your stability of your ram and your CPU. While this is going on, monitor your processor temperature.
I'm running my processor at 1.55volts in the bios (which is 1.5volts in Windows) and my ram at 2.35volts.
Warranty on ocz ram covers it up to 2.2volts but they're designed to handle up to 3.0volts.
I've had my processor all the way up to 1.65volts in the bios (1.6volts in windows).
I don't recommend putting your processor higher than 1.55volts for extended periods of time though.
Also, recommended temperature under full load is mid 70's and below. If you're running above 80 you need either A) higher quality thermal gel. B) a better cooling system
Most people underestimate how much of an impact thermal gel can have on your systems temperature. All I can say is, BUY THE BEST STUFF OUT THERE!
Also, if you're going to be overclocking your ram above 900mhz I strongly suggest a ram cooler such as the Corsair Dominator Fan. It keeps everything nice a cool :)

Why do you want this particular motherboard? it's using an old Nforce4 chipset and there are much better ones out there now that will overclock core2duo cpu's better. Something with the 965, 975x, 650i, 680i, or RD600 chipset (depending on your budget/needs) would be a better choice.
Unless your heart is stuck on the Zalman, get the Thermalright Ultra 120 which for less money will out perform it.

isn't the gold running at slower speeds than the platinum?

it's using an old Nforce4 chipsetI don't know why it didn't clue in to me before but nforce4 can not possibly support C2D cpu's - a look over at Asus' CPU support list for that specific board confirms this. Even none of Intel's chipsets at that time were able to support it, not even with a bios update. C2D required new chipsets and the ones I listed above are the only ones (off the top of my head anyway) that currently support it. Along with the fact that it only supports max DDR2-667, this motherboard should not be considered. If you would like us to suggest one, let us know what price range you would be looking for in a motherboard and if SLI/Crossfire is important, along with any other specific features.
