I'm running 2GB OCZ 6400 platinum XTC REV 2 at 954mhz with 2.35volts 5-5-5-12 timing on an Evga 680i mobo and it's rock solid stable. Awesome ram, get it.
Anything higher or lower than 2.35volts at this frequency and it becomes unstable. So 2.35 is the magic number.
I'm assuming the set up would be the same on a 650i as well.

I have this board.
I get sound clipping for some reason, it's all over the Asus forums. My roomate has same mobo, CPU and RAM.. he doesn't have the issue. Same drivers. No idea wtf is going on.

DONT GET IT..
Why? What's wrong with the brands on the QVL? Get Kingston or Corsair.
I mean, OCZ is a good brand, but the A.I. N.O.S. on the ASUS mobo's screw up the timings on that RAM. If you are dead struck on that RAM, go for it...but make sure you have N.O.S. turned off.
I have a Asus P5B-Deluxe Motherboard...and I'm running Kingston's ValueRAM. It might be "slower" than the OCZ, but good RAM and will do good for most of the things a gamer would want.
If you a diehard OCZ person, get another motherboard, IMO.
Just an opinion..don't take it personally:)
FYI: N.O.S. is a feature that comes with ASUS mobo's to overclock the RAM automatically.

ocz is too hot...
uhhhh.... how do you figure? I'm running my 800mhz at 964mhz with 2.35volts and tight 5-5-5-12 timings. No heat problems here.

well.... i know the Platinum works with the Evga 680i....
I can also confirm that the Platinum line from OCZ works on 680i motherboards. I have had my set which is OCZ2P10002GK work very well with my Evga 680i board.

The platinum line of OCZ DDR2-800 works fine, tested it on all 680i motherboards without fail. Along with the gold DDR2-800 and corsair dominator 6400C4D.
The 680i chipsets are plagued with problems..but this has been said before, it is only a problem if you don't know what works with the board. The boards are quite finicky. As you can see though RFD'ers have the board and it is working perfectly.

the major problem chromey is referring to is the default mob voltage and the min boot voltage many ocz rams need.
most defualt mobo dimm voltage is set to 1.7or so.
alot of premuim ocz ram needs 1.9/2.0 volts just to boot.

and as we have confirmed the OCZ platinum and gold DDR2-800 boot first try on any 680i mobo, this has been tested/confirmed.

Wow...this is a great post.
I just bought the Platinum OCZ DDR2 6400 (2 GB Kit) as of yesterday. I'm looking at buying that exact same MBO along with the E6600 (probably next week).
Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can get good prices? (this is RFD of course).
The MBO's i'm looking at are either the Asus P5N32-E SLI nVidia nForce 680i SLI Chipset @ CC for $285 or the Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe Socket 775 nVidia nForce4 SLIx16 Chipset @ CC for $240. I think I can get the E6600 for $368 from one of the stores at College and Spadina here in TO.
Any comment on these two models of MBOs would also be appreciated.

The Asus P5N32-E SLI nVidia nForce 680i is far better than the Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe Socket 775 nVidia nForce4 in my opinion and worth the price difference.

I would completely agree with Dvothecc, definitely fork out the money for a board with the 680i chipset. Wether it be the Asus P5N32-E SLI or even better yet the EVGA 680i board.

Well I havent put it together yet... Getting my Ram tomorrow.
But im looking forward to Asus AI again, I have it on my current board, It makes Overclocker really easy.
But im also looking at a bigger first drive like a 150g Raptor.

Remember, a used 150gb raptor is going to set you back $200 off ebay.
You can buy two brand new western digital caviar's for the same price, run them in raid and get the same speed but have 3 times the harddrive space.
Save your money and just get the e6300 over the e6600 and overclock it.
Also, the Corsair Dominator Ram Cooler is a must if you're overclocking OCZ ram.
