Hi All:
My dad had the engine on his 92 corolla replaced. He says that the engine is fine except it shakes when it is stopped while in gear. Nothing earth shattering but noticeable.
Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks!

front motor mount is bad - over time the hydraulic fluid leaks out and the rubber hardens which explains the vibration.
good way to check is to pop the hood, put the car in drive and put your foot on the brake. Give it some gas, if the engine jumps then your front mount definatley needs replacing

Thanks! I will have my brother take a look.
Update: He tried that it definitely jumped. Is it costly to replace?

Both the 2005 Echo I had and the 2007 Yaris I drove last month as a rental vibrated a little when in gear and stopped. My new Versa, when I come to a stop light I often think the car is off it's so quiet and smooth.

If you just had the engine replaced, take the car back to that person to look at it. They may have left a bolt out of an engine mount, or damaged the mount during the installation.

Or the car has a rough idle, and it's nearly stalling. Check the idle level (should be ~ 500-600 rpm)

depends, i know an oem front mount for a camry is around the 200 mark - so expect somewhere around there, maybe 150 for the corolla
