You've gotta elaborate a little more. When to teenagers take the fall for everyone else? Also, the term is scapegoats.

Maybe using children as escape goats isn't practical since they have weak legs and probably not run very fast.

I'm going to put it in terms that I've come to understand over many observances.

Troublesome ages for your "growing up" life are..

Age 3
At 3, you have mastered your childhood life. You are the centre of your parents world and you think the world revolves around you. You have done the regieme of wake up/eat/discrete waste from your body/play/ for at least 1/3 of your life (that you can remember) and nothing is going to change.

You now challenge your parents thoughts and ideals because what do they know? Their life is MUCH different than yours and they can't possibly understand the importance of your daily goings-on.

The concept of education is unknown to you, but it will form the catalyst for the next part of your life. Humbling you and setting you in your place while you develop in your new life.

Age 8
for the last 4 years, you have been out of the house from 9-4 just like Mom & Dad goes to work. They talk to you like an equal and you even have chores around the house. Play time comes after all the work was done but you've managed to balance yourself out. You don't think that you are the ending of the world, but you know that you are important to your parents. Important enough to make demands and test out the negotiations as a real player in the family. Afterall, you want toys and work just as hard as they do with their cars and such.

The concept of money is still very mysterious to you, as is the power of communication. Soon you will see other peoples houses and their possessions and how their household is run and you will start to compare notes with friends at school.

Both will eventually serve as the catalyst for the next part of your life.

Ages 14-18
Chances are you've had an afterschool job and you feel that you put in WAY more time than your parents do in the day. Afterall you have school (which by the way no one is paying you for) and your job.

Your under 10$/hr disposable income lets you get anything you want, you have developed a different body than what you had as a child and your hormones tell you that you are officially an adult. Despite what your parents or the government say.

It should be noted that its been proven that the part of the brain that controls reasoning and logic is now activated. However its in its infancy stages and will take another 10 years to develop itself. Your logic will be close to Gods own word in your eyes.. but it will be fatally misjudging situations until you are 25~

The concept of taxes and bills aren't even on your radar. You see the tax being taken off your pay but its so small. You can't wait to go to post-secondary school to have all these rules taken off you and so you can do what you want, when you want. You are going to graduate and make like 50k/year and buy your first house soon after. You got it all planned out.

Regardless, you got life all figured out. Its just that your parents made all the wrong decisions in life. They should put more trust in you..afterall 500 years ago you'd be married by now!

The main idea in this post is the fact that at each stages of your life, you don't like to be told that your ideas aren't the greatest. None of us will ever listen to an elder, I myself did not listen to my parents.... sometimes it worked out in my favour, other times I look back and want to slap my teenage self.

Kids will be kids and adults will reprimand accordingly, because they know how much crap they caused when they were that age. They just don't own up to that.. As they want to be a better role model.

You eventually will get a full time job and realize that 50k/yr is actually 32k/yr.. and although you get $1333.32/paycheque, you also realize that taxes are much larger than previously expected. $279 in tax?!?!! WTF!!!!

So, you make $2100/mo, you pay $600-$1000 in rent, plus groceries, paying back loans, credit card/telephone/cable/cellphone/internet bills..

What was that you said, about that 2 year "House w/ a Plasma TV" plan? :)

what kind of topic is this?!? Why are more of these "discuss" titles popping up in the Off Topic board? Why doesn't the OP explain why he/she thinks that teenagers are the scapegoats of society first, then we'll have a discussion.

Coming from a teen:

I hate the teens that make us look like complete idiots (Well... we are to some extent :D) such as the guys who wear their pants down to their ankles and think they're tough. What I find disgusting is getting into school and seeing a huge group of people smoking (I'd imagine a lot of them smoke more than cigarettes) that range from grade 7s (So, ages 12-13) to grade 11s (17-18). Then there's also the people who do dick-all in class just for the sake of it, and what pisses me off even more - THEY'RE PROUD OF IT!

Or, the girls that wear next to nothing (not that I don't sneak a peak every now and then). Seriously, do you like looking like a damn hooker?

I'm not saying I'm perfect, as I have my faults (ex. procrastination, RFD, etc.) and am aware of that. But, I do wish others wouldn't make people think teens as a whole think they're perfect.

i dunno about the chores part, I know I did chores when I was a kid, but my bratty little cousins have no sense of discipline or respect for keeping things clean. A chore to them is like washing their hands with soap, which I supervise.

and yes, teenagers do think they know everything. I can easily look back at those days and say I knew nothing.

WHAT, run for the hills?? Goats LOVE the hills. Ever heard of a "mountain goat?

We all see that RFD is inundated with tons of "know it all" kids, but 1 in every 10 is a smart, well rounded kid, and the others ruin it for them.

Denis Leary said it best in his stand-up

"Behind the counter, another eighteen-year-old kid. Both ears-pierced. Both nostrils-pierced. Both eyebrows ****ing pierced! And his tongue is hanging out, you know why his tongue is hanging... cuz he has a six-inch steel stud imbedded in the middle of it! That's just one more thing for your dad to grab a hold of when he's pissed off at you

Your 18 years old working in a 7-11. You dont know **** about ****. And pull up your pants"

We all have gone through with it, live with it, its a fact of life

but sometimes adults look down @ teens just b/c they are younger.
For example...
Back when i was in high school i liked to hang out with friends on weekends and play video games...
I was critisized for going out so much and not focusing on school!
Id give the typical teenage "shutup!!! i can do both"
"No you cant young man..."
*tony storms out the house to whatever hang out either the mall or bball court*
never the less i ended up going to my desired post secondary school of choice, and even making it to a few others which shocked them b.c they were unaware of my academic capabilities

Like I said we all go through it. Then your response of "shut up" back says what. Why would u get respect if you dont give it.

Atmosphere - Scapegoat

It's the caffeine, the nicotine, the miligrams of tar
It's my habitat, it needs to be clean, it's my car
It's the fast talk they use to abuse and feed my brain
It's the cat box it needs to be changed, it's the pain
It's women, it's the plight for power it's government
The way your giving knowledge slow and throwing in subtle hints
It's rubbing it, It's itching it, It's applying cream
It's the foreigners sight seeing with high beams, It's in my dreams
It's the monsters that I conjure, It's the marijuana
It's emberassment, displacement, It's where I wander
It's my genre, It's Madonna's videos
It's game shows, cheap liquor, blunts, and bumper stickers with rainbows
It's angels, demons, gods, it's the white devils
It's the monitors, the soundman, it's the ****ing mic levels
It's gas fumes, fast food, Tommy Hil, mommy's pill
Columbia House music club, designer drugs and rhyming thugs
It's bloods and crips, five and six,
It's stick up kids, It's christian conservative terrorists, it's porno flicks
It's the east coast, no it's the west coast
It's public schools, it's asbestos
It's mentholated, It's techno
It's sleep, life, and death
It's speed, coke, and meth
It's hay fever, pain relievers, oral sex, and smokers breath
It stretches for as far as the eye can see
It's reality, **** it , it's everything but me

On and on and on and on
The list goes on and on and on and on

It's in the air, in the water, it's in the meat
It's indirect, indiscrete, inconsistent, and incomplete
It's on the street, every city and everywhere you go
In every man it's the insanity, the fantasy, the casualties
It's the health care system, it's welfare victims
It's assault weapons, it's television religion, and it's false lessons
It's cops, pigs with badges guns and sticks
It's harassment and a complex you carry when you're running ****
It's wondering if you get to eat
It's the winter , the weather
It's herpes, and it's forever
It's the virus that takes the lives of the weak and the strong
It's the drama that keeps on between me and my seed's mom
It's that need to speak long, It's my hunger for attention
It's the wack , who attack songs of redemption
It's prevention, It's the first solution
It's loosing the retribution, it's mental pollution, and public execution
It's the nails that keep my hands and feet to these boards
It's the part time job that governs what you can afford
It's the fear, It's the fake
It's clear it can make time stop and leave you stranded in the year of the snake
It's the dollar, yen, pound, it's all denomination
It's hourly wages for your professional observations
