View Full Version : Can component cables do 1080p?

Half the results from google say yes and the other half say no :twisted:

Does anyone want to set the record straight?

On the 360 I believe they can.

I have my TV hooked up via Component, it does 1080i, and whenever I select 1080p it just says Resolution not supported, so I suppose (that since it is a choice via the component cables) that component does do 1080p.

It depends on whether or not your tv is capable of 1080p via component video

They can support the menu at 1080p, but DVDs are locked at 480p through the component cables. Using the VGA cable will allow for 1080p signal for DVDs.
