Why is their pricing structure so screwed up? It costs more to ship within Canada than to the USA:
Vancouver to Toronto (10.00inch x 7.00inch x 4.00inch package weighing 0.5kg using "regular parcel" with delivery confirmation): $11.20
Same package to anywhere in the USA: $6.90 (small packet ground)
Even if I wanted to ship it via Small Packet Air, it'd only be $8.20...
Why?!

I guess US Post (who would take it over at the border) works more cheaply than Canada Post.

why? because its cheaper to mail something within the US than canada due to population density. so mailing to US can be cheaper than within canada.
its not stupid at all, makes complete and perfect sense

It only costed $1.95 USD for Koss to mail me my headphone from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Waterloo, ON.
While it costed me $7 CAD to ship my headphones from Waterloo, ON to Vaughan, ON...

What's stupid is watching the female Canada Post parcel delivery driver flirting with the walking male letter carrier by trying to run him down when they meet up on our street. I wonder how much the stuff in the back goes flying when she steps on the gas and jolts the wheel towards the sidewalk.
Crazy.

Better yet, I sent a document to Hong Kong and I paid for the postage label of $11.98 (not the stamps) at the Post Office.
I put my return address label on the corner, and the recipient address in the centre. Stupid Canada Post people delivered my letter to my return address instead of Hong Kong.
How could the people at Canada Post be so stupid. The postage label clearly states Canada Post. It took 4 whopping days for the mail to return to my mailbox after sending it.

Canada Post sent a package I ordered from US back to sender twice after arriving at a sortation plant less than 100km from me. In total, it took almost 2 months to get a package from US.

It's only cheaper for items 1kg or lighter. If you increase it past 1kg it's more expensive.

Canada Post is GARBAGE.
Screwed up my RFD deals on two occasions - once when I sent an item via CP and once when I was receiving a regular parcel. Both items were "lost".
Buyer isn't happy. Seller isn't happy. We lost money, time, sanity with these scumbags.

I ordered cd's on boxing day from BB, only one was in stock at the time so they sent it. I was home all day the day it was supposed to be delivered and later that day I found a slip on my mail box saying they tried to deliver it but no one was home, I was home all day my dogs would of started barking if someone was at the door.
I had been checking the status of the rest of my BB order regualarily to see if they had been shipped or not. Earlier this week I check and it says they were out for delivery, nothing that day, ok maybe they are a day behind, then it says out for delivery the next day, I was also home that day. Later that day it said that they attempted to deliver but no body was home. Well this time the lazy driver did not even leave a card saying they attempted to deliver, nothing just the online status. They just took them straight to the postal outlet. If I hadn't been checking the online status I would of never knew they came in and were waiting to be picked up.

That's why you buy insurance.

The explanation that Canada Post gave me before is that the cheapest mail service within Canada is still fast, so that even regular post across the country takes about a week. To the US, however, the slowest service is listed as 4-6 weeks, and airmail is still a couple weeks at least. Paying to get it to the US within a week IS more than Canada...it's just that these slower methods are not available in Canada for some reason...

I can't believe how expensive it is for overseas shipping. Consider: a 10 lb package from Canada to South Korea costs about $40 CAD for regular parcel - two weeks or so. The same package from South Korea to Canada costs $20 CAD for EMS - 3 business days.
Go figure. I know this is off-topic, but ever since I've moved to SK, I've realised how expensive Canada is: income and sales tax, shipping charges, food, clothing, etc.

Regular Parcel & Xpresspost both come with $100 insurance, but you might need to ask for it up front.

Thanks. I was going to ask you if it was expensive to mail from South Korea to Canada.
