Hi there -- anyone know where I can get a deal on a new or used Fluke multimeter -- probably the 100 series or 170 series?

Just for home use or proffesional?

You can pick up a multimeter at princess auto pretty cheap.

Also try ebay. Stores mark these up a lot because sales are low.

There is a electronics store at Victoria Park and Gordon Baker (Active Electronics) that sell Fluke multimeters. I am not sure about the cost or models, but they do have a few models there.

Active is exceedingly expensive for just about everything. I can't imagine it's any different for Fluke's. Your best bet is to find something online, I'm sure,

The Active in calgary has pretty decent prices. Purchasing a Fluke from a non-supported authorized dealer seems pretty stupid.

Fluke is to Princess Auto meter what DeWalt is to Jobmate.

Why can noone post an opinion without having an attitude on this board? Seriously, maybe it's not stupid. There are plenty of things I will waive a warranty on in order to save 10% or more of the purchase price. Some people will take the chance, and if it's 'top notch' you shouldn't be taking that much of a chance anyway.

And the Active electronics here in GTA has outsdandingly bad prices, I'm glad Calgary is spared that.

Sorry. You're right. Everything seems to get editorial and my posts are increasingly getting this way. But Flukes are high precision instruments. I would expect anybody looking for one is using it for high precision applications such as checking pace makers. Any instrument in this class should have assurances it is calibrated correctly and the paperwork to support it.

In this case, I can see your point. Also most of these are bought for business reasons, which would mean a warranty would be more valuable than the savings.
