I don't mind being an early adopter for an OS.

So, will dell, fs, bb, pretty much isntantly have vista OS pc's on release date? (February 1st?)

Don't know if FS/BB will have it right away. Even if they did, you would probably need to go through the manufacturer to get the upgrade disks.

I can't see Dell or other system integrators not having it yet, seeing as how it went to RTM a while ago. They have it for their own testing/tweaking/customizing.

I'm thinking the same thing, on the 1st we will see either all their systems switch to vista or both options present.

January 27th, you should be able to go into any Best Buy and see the Vista machines. January 30th, you'll be able to buy them. If you're buying an XP laptop, you can get a free upgrade through the manufacturer.

Point is that I don't want to wait 6-8 weeks for that upgrade if I can just wait 10 days now and get it pre-installed.
