View Full Version : Am I too old to buy a DS Lite?

I know this is a ridiculous question, but I recently got it in my head that I want to purchase a DS lite. Now, I am 26 years old, I have an Xbox 360 which I play on occasion but I really don't have the time to be a hardcore gamer. I recently picked up my younger cousin's DS and played a few rounds of Mario Kart and I thought to myself I wouldn't mind playing games like this once and awhile. Call it nogtaligia or whatever, but I thought the game was actually fun :)

Anyhow, I guess I am looking for some social affirmation that I am not completely out of my mind for wanting one of these things. Anyone here over 25 actually have one of these?

No, you're not too old to get DS Lite. I'm planning to get one for my 59 year-old mom. :)

People might give you an odd look if you playing it on the bus, but it's not like you're playing hopscotch or tea party or something like that

yep... way to old.
Now get out of your moms basement and get a job!

Joking!!!! These days everyone plays video games... technology is just cool like that... My 60 year old uncle is more tech savvy then me...
His iPod... his portable 40gb divx player... he's set.

I am 26 and I got a DS lite with out thinking about it. its so much fun when you are waiting for some one.

I dont play it in public too often though. usually just in my own car waiting for a friend or something like that. you will no longer care if you friends are late from now on lol

We got our 11 yr old daughter one for Christmas and we almost play with it more than she does. Hubby and I are hooked on Brain Age and I have seriously become hooked on Sudoko. We're both older than 26 too! ;)

For those with kids who have DS's, if you want to make them the coolest kids in the neighborhood get them Tego's for their DS's. Our daughter's is now cheetah skin print on the inside and has a picture of a cheetah on the front with her name! :D

I'm 20 and I got a DS Lite. No you're not too old, there are games available for the DS aimed at your age group as well.

there's no such thing as "too old" for a video game. ds lite is worth it, just that if u play it often, buy a super-card to dl games instead of buying them individually, because some of the games i bought i easily beat in a couple of hours, so it wasn't worth it in the end.

I've seen 50 year olds playing PSP on the GoTrain. Enjoy it while you're relatively young.

I'm 28 and have a ds lite, as do about a half dozen of my friends (split 50/50 female and male). We aren't hardcaore, we just love playing the classics (mario, tetris) and the simple (sudoku, brain age, nintendogs).

Besides, doesn't age 26 fall into the ideal demographic age range for video gamers?

If you have to ask, then Yes.

Yes, you're way too old. I think like 14-15 is the cutoff for these things, any older and you need a life.

i'm 26 and i bought my DS Lite when i was 25.
i didn't think much of it when i bought it but once i found the game to get me hooked, i was hooked enough to leave my PSP to collect dust. Jump Ultimate Stars can do that to you.

LOL, does the DS lite said on the box, "age 6+" or something...

26 is odd to have a DS lite, so try to hide when you play.:D

Im 24, soon to be 25, and a lot of my friends still play video games, some more seriously than others. one of my best friends and his girlfriend play CS:S on a serious level. CAL and everything.

Lately i don't have much time to play, but i still will on occasion. nothing wrong with it.

bottom line, our age group, even as we get older, will still be into techie stuff and video games. if our parents had such things when they were kids, they would probably be the occasional gamers as well.

furthermore, a few of my friends parents and their parents friends are casual gamers. it is what it is.... besides, do you really care what others think

You could be doing something more productive than playing video games. Why don't u read a book or something?

I am over 30 and have a DS, but I don't usually play it outside, maybe when I am waiting for friends in my car or away on business trips.

If you really want it, you do not actually care what other people think right?

The only thing is don't play it with the speakers turned up on the bus. I really flip out when people do that

I won DS Lite, it's fun for a little while. For me it was mostly interesting because of stylus control. I played with it for a bit and I don't think I touched it since then :)

Without reading your post, my answer is NO.

After reading your post, my answer is still NO.

My entire family has DS. You name it, mom, sister, myself. It doesn't matter what age, as long as they can beat brain age.

My Dad left for Africa a few weeks ago and he swiped my DS without telling me. I'm still quite annoyed by this stunt. Answer is NO, you're not too old.

You are never too old, I have seen a grandpa on TTC playing one and a beefed up bouncer at a karaoke playing and checking ID's.

Mine's 14.08 , the only thing stopping me from getting better is when I write my 5's the game doesnt recognize it sometimes.
