Hi Steve:
Can I call you Steve? You seem to want to project an air of familiarity with your Apple ads on TV with the uber-non-threatening and just cool enough Justin Long so I'm going to call you Steve OK?
I don't want this to be an Apple or iPhone (can I realistically think there is going to be an iPhone - you WILL pay off Sysco systems for the name right?- and they are going to make you shell out at least 100 million for this right, right?) trashing forum.
I buy into your commercialism and propoganada (sorry advertising - what was I thinking?) and think the iPhone is the coolest, most convergent device ever. Only thing is Steve I'd need to sell off most of my other non-tech things to be able to pay for this - so I'm guessing there will be an iRefrigerator and iMicrowave somewhere down the line? Will they also come with expensive, extraneous features? Oh who cares as long as they are sooo cool looking!
In any case - could you do a favour for us Canadians and poor, average joes - could you maybe forget about convergence for a while? I don't need a phone/camera/ipod/scheduler/internet device. I think it's cool but I'd rather just have the iPhone without the phone part. I'd rather not be yapping on the subway or while working out anyway. I like my non-Apple digital camera which gives killer 6 MP images (sorry Steve!).
I already threw out my old 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th generation iPods, iPod shuffles - 1st and 2nd generation. And now I'm worried about what's going to happen when someone smart out there decides that this iPhones (remember when your buddy John Scully had the same vision with the Newton?) of yours is too early and expensive for the mass market and makes your cool iPod without the phone portion of it for a much more affordable 299 US - oh yeah with built in FM radio.
I'm sure someone at Microsoft or Creative Labs is thinking of this - I'd like to stay loyal to you Stevie - I'd much rather have a cool iPod than an X-tunes or X-Media. Please help me out - make that iPhone into a really cool widescreen iPod or iMovie player - whatever you want. Heck I'd be happy if you developed some really cool games while you were at it - how about a game called Zune killer? Maybe you could sell those for 3.99 per download - or put them on SD media - uhhh, Steve you gotta include a card slot buddy.
Anyways - hope all goes well with you and you get plenty of rest before you announce the next generation of iPod nanos and I have to start throwing all of these into the dumpster. BTW could you give me a heads up? Last time I bought the original iPod nano the day before you launched the newer ones. It'd save me a lot of time and possibly my marriage.
So anyways - say hi to Woz for me - and are you still seeing the guys from Intel or are you secretly sneaking around and seeing the AMD boys?
See ya - an RFD fan (who's not angry - just someone with too much time on their hands and not enough money).
