Hehehh.. Yeah it'll be tough. I've been working 8am to 10pm (with some breaks but not significant) for the past 4 weeks. It's intense. But at least you don't waste any time (cos you have no time to waste =))

That is illegal. The most you can work in one week is 60 hours, unless your job is excluded under the ESA. Your employer can get into some pretty serious trouble.

Guess it's not too challenging if he can work without sleep.. and still have time to post on RFD.

Depends on the industry as well. Like post productions for film/television or video games can get insanely brutal when it comes to hours. Hundred hour work weeks are common and overtime is not that common so you get paid the same whether its an easy 45 hours or a suicidal 100+ hours. I've gone through 9am-midnight 6-7 days in a row and it sucks cause I have to go to the gym at 2am then get a few hours of zzz and wake up at 7:30am.

i technically worked 110 hours/week, last summer for 4 months.
i would start 9-5 at the ministry of transportation (40/week)
then work 6-12:30 for Air Canada (30/week)
In between i was working as a research assistant for my prof (40/week)
was killer, but saved enough money to move out on my own, and still pay tuition

At least you get paid by the hour.
Through November and early December, I was working from 9am to midnight (with meal breaks)...plus ~10 hours each on Saturday & Sunday. Without any extra pay.
It's legal and not that uncommon in certain industries.

As far as the legality goes, OP probably signed something when he was hired saying he agreed to work overtime if needed.

I'm surprised they'd actually let you work all these hours. I mean, I thought it would be more of a
1am-10am work at the mall here
11am-5pm work at the gym here
6pm-3am work at mcdonalds here
.....and so on.

Some of you guys work insane hours without ot pay. I hope you get 60000+ a year for all that hassle.
I do a fair bit of standby work for my full time employer. Over the xmas holidays this year a 40 hour workweek often became 65 to 70. Add another 12 to 20 hours a week with my part time job and it was sleep, eat, work, eat, work, eat sleep... and so on.
Thank god for all the OT pay. Double time and a half on xmas and new years day was the bomb...
