When i set my resolution to 1280 x 1024 in cs, my text becomes huge.. like it would be on a 800 x 600 resolution.. when i change res to 1280 x 960.. text looks good... but since my AA doesn't work in cs.. i get jaggies... prolly because of resolution ... is tehre any way to make text normal on the 1280 x 1024 resolution?.. i did a re-install of cs.. didnt help

Maybe you can't support 1280x1024?

Maybe you are using really old drivers?
I've never had that problem... maybe try asking on the Steam forums.

You sure your monitor supports 1280x1024?
Also, double check your videocard settings. What videocard do you have?

Try using 1280 x 960 or 1152 x 864.

LCD or CRT?

Just got back from work ...
Anyway, i'm using:
Samsung SyncMaster 913v LCD - default drivers
eVGA 8800GTX - 97.28 drivers
The monitor's resolution is 1280 x 1024 native. I used this monitor to play CS on my previous computer for like 1.5 years. Never had a problem such as this. Could it be the video card drivers?

Man you're playing CS 1.6 on an 8800GTX? :O

OP mentioned AA so I think he's referring to CS Source.

why not? it's probably not the only game he plays
do you quit a game just because your computer can run it well?
what if you're participating in an online league, like CAL? what do you say to your teammates? "sorry guys i'm not allowed to play this game anymore, my computer is too fast"
OP mentioned AA so I think he's referring to CS Source.
cs1.6 supports AA and AF, too.

Well what games he play is up to him but if you have an 8800GTX, at least get Source (unless you play competitively). ;)

Yea but the effect in 1.6 is so minimal that barely anyone sets them, so I just guessed CSS.

Lol guys
I play CS 1.6 because I like the game and I played it for years. I don't play competitively, rather it's a bunch of friends playing against eachother using vent. It's a fun game nonetheless.
I don't play CS:S.
I also play Guild Wars and damn Oblivion which is why I fully upgraded twice in the last 4 months. $2,000 dollars later, it still stutters! I need more damn ram. A GB of my ram costs $280. Prolly guna upgrade soon to the GB.
Anyway. so is there anyway to reduce the jaggies? I never got it on my ultra old computer (celeron 2.66, 64MB integrated video, 256MB DDR-RAM).
Perhaps its a driver issue with the 8800GTX?
EDIT: K, forgot to mention that I get jaggies even in 1280 x 1024. No idea what to do.

Notice the jaggies? They are not majorly in my face, but like 5% distracting. Also note the text in the last screenie.. it's huge.
I also get this weird mouse + keyboard lagg when I turn VSync on in RivaTuner. When I erase rivatuner the lagg doesnt go away. To describe it better, i move mouse.. 0.2 sec delay, crosshair moves. I have to force Vsync to be off in RT. I can't turn it on in CS so i get stuttering :( but thats another story. Anyone have any ideas?

Those jaggies are completely normal as you don't have AA on. They just haven't shown up on your old comp because the onboard card probably didn't let you play on the higher resolutions and couldn't render graphics as good. It is perfectly normal. Also the text size is normal as well, it's been like that ever since I started playing 1.6 on a 6600GT.

use opengl and the mouselag will go away i believe.

I do use OpenGL, however I found that I have to disable VSync in RT in order to get rid of mouse lag. Tried everything else.
K, However the text is not normal. Here is the comparison:

That's always been like that when your using a resolution with no AA

Yea, but here's the thing. Although I turn on AA in just about everything, RT, nTune... I still get those jaggies >_<
