I just bought a refurbished Toshiba DVD Player from Factory Direct, and settled in to watch it when I realized there was no remote control in the box. Is this normal for refurbs, or should I go back and ask for a remote? Hopefully I can get a remote from them or return it cuz it's a pain to watch without one.

I think you should go and ask for one. I haven't heard of refurb status meaning you get missing components...

Thanks, I will do tomorrow. Just wanted to find out first if that was to be expected.
It all seems a little sketchy because the owners manual in the box is for a different Toshiba model, and there was a DVD in the player!

If they don't have the original remote, ask them for one of those all-4-one remotes, etc. that I imagine they must carry in their store -then you can program it to work with your DVD player.

I mean ask them to throw it in! LOL!

Edited to ask: What DVD was it, that was in there?

Pr0n!

Back to the topic. I agree with reptar - I don't know why people even go in that store. It is so corrupt and fishy...as soon as I walk in there I feel like I've been ripped off before I even consider buying something.

All of their stuff is either stolen, refurbished, physically dirty or pissed on. I swear.

Bootleg or original? If it was original, you got a good deal!

Sadly, bootleg.

As a conclusion to the story, I returned the DVD player and got a new one that was (gasp) actually plastic-wrapped, came with a remote and an HDMI cable.

Agreed. I mean, with RFD why would you need to buy refurbished when you can wait for a hot deal and get a new one for a better price.
